This is my biggest problem with Nintendo. Nintendo has some of the most creative people working on staff with them yet they crank out the same 5 IPs cycle in and Cycle out and ever since the DS came out they've been going remake mad. Mario 64 DS, OOT 3DS, Star Fox 64 3d, OOT on the GameCube oh wait goes farther back than that All those remakes on the GBA.

So now what? ANOTHER Remake nobody asked for but people are going to buy anyway.

If Nintendo put half the energy into a new creative IP and didn't depend on their old standbys I'd be in love with Nintendo again.

The Nintendo I loved as a Kid that was fresh and creative and trying new things BUT still staying family friendly... it's dead lost in a sea of Remakes, rehashes and underpowered Hardware.

But ya know what? I'll probably still end up with a Wii U after I buy my 3DS....

If people are buying it then there must be demand for it. There certainly seems to be demand enough for Nintendo to keep doing this.

Granted other companies do remakes and reissues all the time hell it's all Sega ever does now and yes I have bitten. But those packages are from creatively dry companies, Like Capcom, Konami (what have they done lately?) and like I said Sega.

Would you rather play a game you played 10 or so years ago AGAIN or play a new game lovingly crafted the way Nintendo used to craft games? I almost feel like Nintendo fans are so high off whatever is in the Nintendo Kool Aid they'll buy anything they put out. They could make a game where Link takes a Dump and it's motion controlled using the Wii U Pad's Camera and screen and it would still sell at least a Million copies.

I'll admit I'm not the biggest Nintendo fan in the world. I have softened up on them a bit since I bought my N64 (which was ironically on Wii U launch day) I don't flat out hate Nintendo. I just feel as a gamer who wants something new that Nintendo isn't delivering.

But I know it's not just Nintendo, almost every other company is guilty of the same thing, I just expect better from Nintendo they create the trends for others to follow. I want something new.

I think the original WW still looks good enough that we don't need a HD remake.

It's not even a design genre (cel-shading / cartoon) that really needs HD in my opinion.

If you have the Dolphin Emulator You can even flawlessly upscale it to HD.

You're right about Konami, but wrong about Capcom and Sega, both of which have churned out MANY new IPs in the past decade or so. Nintendo has churned out only a few.

Have they even any? All I can think of is Pikmin, and it's already been re-released once and on it's third iteration. Now they're already shitting on the quirky titles they had for the Gamecube again with a sequel to Luigi's Mansion. I understand that fans have been clamoring for it, but maybe at a certain point fans are just stupid, and shouldn't be given what they think they want.

I love WW (also my favorite 3D Zelda) and while the screencaps look cool, it doesn't really seem to carry on the essence of the WW style. It hardly looks cel-shaded; much more like 3D models rendered in a cartoon-y style. These announcements look really exciting and amazing at first glance, but it you peer past the veil, they're pretty hollow and empty. The Yoshi's island announcement is interesting to me, since I liked the original as a kid, and Epic Yarn was a pretty amazing game stylisticly. Still, it feels like little thought went into that development decision.

Also I have to repeat what dsh said: Sega has done a lot of re-releasing in the past few years, this is true. However, just in the last year, they've released more new IPs than Nintendo has in the last two decades. Sega and Capcom have very much changed in the last decade, but not without Nintendo following suit. I find Nintendo worse, as they continue to shove a bunch of games, that are exactly the same as the ones they released two or three years ago, in the faces of gamers, and expect them to buy it. The saddest part is that they do. It would be nice if people stopped proving to Nintendo, and other companies, that they're a bunch of sheep.

By the way, are there enough notable characters in the MegaTen games to make a Fire Emblem X MegaTen?

This.

It looks like an amazing upgrade, but I think any of the other previous 3D Zelda's would have benefited far more from an HD facelift. Most cel shaded games from last gen have aged pretty well visually.

I'm still excited, but WW is easily my least favorite 3D Zelda. It was way too easy.
