Im not a big time photo bug but I found my friends Rebel T3i pretty intuitive and fun to use. And now there is the T4i to consider. Of course anything you select in the $600-$800 range will be pretty comparable. I'd just look for a good package deal with an extra lens, case, mem card, etc. They pop up frequently on slickdeals.net
