Well it'd certainly be better than that Schumaker crap.AppleQueso wrote:I'd watch that movie.Luke wrote:I wouldn't.dsheinem wrote:
I'd love to see QT do Batman.
Young Bruce would probably see his Father decapitated while also being forced to see his Mother being gang raped before her throat is slit. Short training montage with Western music in the background, and then cut to the Batman, which is dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. And Batman never, ever shuts up. Two hours of the movie is Batman and Alfred sitting down and talking about Lady gaga and how ridiculous the idea of a batcave is, although Batman really wants one.
And Robin is played by Uma Thurman, who wears an eye mask and a red and green bikini.
I think Joss could do a good Batman movie, if he could reign in his comedic impulses. If you look at some of Joss Whedon's work, he can certainly go to dark places, which is what Batman is all about. Thing is though, he tends to always throw in something funny to lighten things up a bit. You can't do that with Batman. The best Batman stories are almost oppressively dark with little room for comedy. I mean I know you can point to bits of comedy in Nolan's movies, but they are rather rare. Most of the time things are quite serious. There's a lot more jokes in The Avengers. Joss had said once that he had ideas for a Batman movie at one time and his TV show Angel had lots of Batman jokes and references, often comparing Angel to the Dark Knight.
Brian Singer could do a good take on Batman I think, as long as he doesn't get too caught up into making Batman some sort of religious figure like he did in Superman Returns and instead just focuses on the things that made his X-Men movies work.
I would like to see Guillermo del Toro take a stab at Batman. I think he'd bring a very interesting visual approach to Gotham and its villains that I wouldn't mind seeing. I wouldn't even mind seeing him take Batman in a more supernatural direction, i.e. Hellboy or Pan's Labyrinth. Supernatural elements are not unheard of in Batman stories
Matthew Vaughn is another good choice. He's no stranger to comic book movies with Kickass and X-Men First Class. And he's certainly done other cool, non comic book fare with Stardust and Layer Cake.
Here's an interesting choice. How bout Nicolas Winding Refn taking a stab at a comic book movie with Batman? He's no stranger to movies about the world of crime, which is a bigger part of Batman's stories than other comic book super heroes.
Sam Raimi could maybe do a good Batman movie if we're going for a more super hero-ey Batman i.e. one that would fit well in a Justice League movie. Give Raimi a very monster-ish type of villain like Clayface and he'd have a lot of fun with that. The guy has done good work with not just Spider-Man but a very comic book like character in Dark Man
My last choice would be Edgar Wright. He's such a dedicated student of whatever genre his movies are in whether it's a tribut to zombie movies, a movie about video games, or a tribute to 80s action movies. I feel like a comic book movie from him would be an interesting homage to all comic book movies, but maybe Batman wouldn't be the best choice for him. I think he'd make a funny Deadpool movie though. He seems like a guy steeped enough in geekdom (just watch Spaced) to do a fun comic book movie.
