After playing this, you can't say that any shmup ever made will ever be as fiendishly designed as Ninja Gaiden (and yes, the first Castlevania) were.dunpeal2064 wrote:Yeah thats the one. Its that 3rd screen with tons of birds, and a small platform with a knife-throwing asshole. I can't tell if the game was meticulously designed to be a mind-numbing challenge, or if no one decided to test the last stages.

Castlevania's definitely far more forgiving than Ninja Gaiden.o.pwuaioc wrote: I haven't touched in a month or two, trying to master Castlevania first. But yeah, I think 6-2 is legendary in how tough it is. So rough, so rough.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I must suck at Castlevania then.
I am finding stage 13 to be quite a bitch. I think I actually had an easier time getting to the last set of stages in Ninja Gaiden, but of course nothing as bad as that game's 6-2... yet.
Ha ha, yeah these games are nuts. They require good memorization, and in that sense remind me of something like R-Type, since the checkpoints make you really know your stuff. But, R-Type usually at least feels fair, whereas Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania can feel quite unfair at some points. They are still really great games.ExedExes wrote: After playing this, you can't say that any shmup ever made will ever be as fiendishly designed as Ninja Gaiden (and yes, the first Castlevania) were.

Don't get me wrong, Castlevania isn't easy, but even in levels like that you eventually find your rhythm and make it through. I probably replayed stage 13 more times than I can count.dunpeal2064 wrote:I must suck at Castlevania then.I am finding stage 13 to be quite a bitch. I found out when players type "ASS" as their 3-letter initial when submitting their ranking on several Capcom games, it will revert back to"CAP" or "COM".

Other companies' arcade games do that too, with words like ASS or SEX.Sonicx360 wrote:I found out when players type "ASS" as their 3-letter initial when submitting their ranking on several Capcom games, it will revert back to"CAP" or "COM".

I've always used BRA as my initials (first 3 letters of my name), but a lot of Cave games won't let me and instead change BRA to CAV.ExedExes wrote:Other companies' arcade games do that too, with words like ASS or SEX.Sonicx360 wrote:I found out when players type "ASS" as their 3-letter initial when submitting their ranking on several Capcom games, it will revert back to"CAP" or "COM".

That's weak. For that matter, so is censoring ass and whatnot, but come on, bra? What's next? I call it the Sacred letters. The Mark of Quality is when a game lets you put your name in as ASSSonicx360 wrote:I found out when players type "ASS" as their 3-letter initial when submitting their ranking on several Capcom games, it will revert back to"CAP" or "COM".
Most games now I put my initials in as Rev. Ya know because I'm the Rev. (I don't think I made it clear in any initials posts but I am an ordained Minister)
