Japanese Neo Geo AES Power
I recently brought back a Neo Geo AES from Japan. I have the original power cord for it. Unfortunately I do not know alot about voltage and electrical stuff, but I do know the voltage for Japan and America is different. I have a voltage adapter I can plug it into, however I was wondering if I just went and bought an American Neo Geo power cord and used that without a voltage adapter. Would this be a more permanent solution, or should I just keep with the Voltage adapter and unplug the system when it is not in use?

If I understand the explanation in the thread correctly, it sounds like I will be fine either way. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Japanese Neo Geo AES Power
DO NOT use an american neo geo adapter for the jpn system. JPN plug is 10V, 1amp. US is 5V, 3amp.
Just use your voltage adapter since you have one. To be honest, many folks don't even worry about the voltage difference and just plug their JPN systems into the wall without an adapter.
Besides, you'll be paying a lot more for an american adapter anyway. And in my experience, they're tempermental. But I've never had a problem with any of the JPN setups that have crossed my path.

Actually there's two versions of the AES for both the US and Japan, the earlier console uses the 5V PSU while later systems use the 9V PSU.shallowgamer wrote:DO NOT use an american neo geo adapter for the jpn system. JPN plug is 10V, 1amp. US is 5V, 3amp.
