I honestly enjoy these WWII games so much because I'm already so much into the history itself. I wouldn't mind if they kept going with all that, I'm not really into these "modern war" takeovers of both series these days.BoringSupreez wrote:It, COD2, and COD3 have all been swept from the mainstream's memory. As for MOH Pacific Assault, I need to get used to all the differences. It has a much slower pace, you can only get healed by your medic, the engine has a lot more detail, and the weapons are a bit more primitive than those you'd normally use in Europe. This one just keeps throwing objective after objective at you. Got on the raft and heading back to the ship? YOU'RE NOT DONE! You gotta find the injured guy on the beach. Ok, did that. We're heading back! NO! Gotta take the BAR and shoot down the damn Zeros that are attacking you! Ok, I'm on the sub now! NOT YET! You have to stop the torpedoes they're dropping!
That one mission alone had *19* primary objectives. Yeesh.

Now that's how you improve on a classic. Allowing players to explore every inch of the stage for secondary objectives and reward them based on that. I'm really enjoying MOHEA now.

To be fair... COD3 wasn't that good. The best games in the series are COD, COD2, MW1, Black Ops 2 and World At War (One of the hardest shooters of this generation).BoringSupreez wrote:It, COD2, and COD3 have all been swept from the mainstream's memory. MOH: Airborne was so underlooked it's almost criminal. I've heard that MOH: Heroes 2 is pretty damn good as well.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
MOH: Airborne is my favorite in the series, and one of my favorite WW2 FPS overall, which is saying something considering I really like that subsection of the genre. It is really hard to find a creative and new way to use the setting, but Airborne did it in a way I found both unique and enjoyable. Pacific Assault on the other hand...well, I consider it the weakest of the 10th anniversary collection. It just never managed to live up to the others in the series.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Sadly, I must feel this way. As I said up thread, 19 primary objectives in one mission and it never seemed like it was gonna end, and it wasn't even half as good as the other games I played. It doesn't help that a "quickload" means having to wait about 30 seconds while the progress bar makes its way to the right.Ack wrote:Pacific Assault on the other hand...well, I consider it the weakest of the 10th anniversary collection. It's really sad how MOH can't even get a Pacific theater game right. MOH Rising Sun was fun but also a bit of a disappointment. You don't see too many WWII FPS set there either, and I was always more into the history of the Eastern front too.

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
To be fair, from what I've played (The demo) it seems a lot better than Frontline. I know the game was great on the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube but the PS3 port actually makes the game feel more dated. The sensitivity is way too high and you CAN'T change it, there's no auto-aim to compensate the almost Quake-ish sensitivity, they added a hideous motion blur effect that makes you want to puke, the game can't decide whether to run at 40, 60 or even 20 FPS and the difficulty was increased so much that it's almost unplayable on anything higher than normal. Thankfully it was a free extra with MOH 2010 and that game is pretty good so it's compensatedExedExes wrote:Sadly, I must feel this way. Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Yeah, but that creates a different problem for me: rarely do I play an FPS on console. Sure, I did it quite a bit in the late 1990s with the Nintendo 64, but only recently have I really begun taking a look at it again, and the games that I have been playing have been more hybrids than true FPS. So Frontline was one I missed entirely, just as I missed many of the offshoot Call of Duty games.KillerJuan77 wrote:To be fair, from what I've played (The demo) it seems a lot better than Frontline. Did the first part of North Africa on MOH European today.
Trying my best to drag myself back to MOH Pacific. I want to finish that before I install Airborne!
Frontline was really good. It was also pretty long!

Zero Tolerance for sega genesis. Yeah it doesn't look so great but remember this is a FPS on a Sega Genesis in 1994...
