I recently learned that one of my favorite fighting games the Playstation "Rival Schools" has multi-tap support! 2on2 tag-team match. I had no idea this game had support for this. So i had to try it. I only have disc 1 here (the evolution disc) and you have to choose Cooperative mode. And it works! But the problem is i have no idea on how the controls works for the Cooperative mode! NONE of the faq:s on gamefaqs has any info on Cooperative mode, very strange. And no info if i search google!
I have only read very short mentions about the 4-player modes in reviews and they all say different stuff. One review said that it was possible to do a tag any time during a fight. another review said that you only can switch between the rounds.. and another review said that if you press the buttons at the right time the second person in your team takes control over the character you are playing with. I have no manual and cant find any info. Can someone please help and tell me little about the button commands etc for the 4-player mode?
Here are a couple of stuff that i figured out myself in Cooperative mode.
- If you are the player you cant execute Team-Up Technique that you normally do! This is up to there other player in your team to execute.
- The second player in the team can press the d-pad in different directions to help the first player to gain more super meter to execute Team-Up Techniques and Burning Vigors faster!
Thats all i could find out. but how do you tag? switch characters etc?

Da fuck!
Umm... if you are using "Disc 1" then you are using the arcade disc and not the Evolution Disc. Rival Schools series in general doesn't have a genreal "TAG" structure. Not even PJ did.
Secondary characters act as support characters via the "Team up technique" and that's about it in Rival. The sequel expanded on the limited team structure ever so slightly with additional features such as "Break up" and "Party Up" techniques. But never has the series supplied an actual Tag structure the likes of Tekken Tag and the Marvel Vs. Series.

Ok this is a little wierd but the PAL version of Rival Schools have the Evolution disc on DISC 1 not on disc 2 as the NTSC version.CD AGES wrote: Umm... if you are using "Disc 1" then you are using the arcade disc and not the Evolution Disc. Im playing rival schools 4-players in the background while typing this message. And its the PAL version, Evolution disc. yellow colored disc 1. And yes the 4-player support works fine!
But the main question is still. How does the controls work? Someone said in a review that the second player can take control over the main character. i figured that you take turns switching back and forth during the same round while playing live.. or something like that?
from the playstations database:

Ok goodtimes. If it works fine and all and you are playing the game like you say then why not answer your own questions yourself with regards to the gameplay logitics of this 4 player feature. You seem to have the setup complete to find out even if it has to be through trial and error.Im playing rival schools 4-players in the background while typing this message. That doesn't make any sense at all. If such was the case, What significance does the secondary character have if 2 individual players somehow control the point character...But the main question is still. How does the controls work? This makes even less sense and doesn't sound fun at alli figured that you take turns switching back and forth during the same round while playing live.. or something like that?

Re: Rival Schools Multi-tap 4-Player help!
Thats just the problem. This multitap mode does not seem fun at all. Other reviews are recommending playing the 4-player mode, its a blast! well i dont see the fun in it.. its just like regular 1on1 match and the 2 other players just have to wait until the fight is over and they can play the next round.. boring. So i figure.. there must be something im missing here? Is there some button combination that switches the characters like other tag-team fighting games.. no, i dont think this game has support for taging in a fight. So there must be something else im missing? or this is just it. the second player controls when he want to execute the Team-Up Techniques while the first player controls the character. maybe its fun? but i just expected some more with this multi-tap feature.CD AGES wrote: This makes even less sense and doesn't sound fun at all
