Being a life long Wings fan I both love and hate this comparison. We'll see if they can keep this current success going. There is a new captain in town and he has some big skates to fill.

I don't hate the Wings by any stretch (who could with that logo?), it's that you need an antagonist in sports to make it more interesting. And what a better team to boo than the Red Wings? Almost every year you can ask a stranger "Who's the best team in hockey?", and the answer is usually "The Red Wings" and that is usually the right answer.

Oh how sweet it was:

Roenick is the best, I should pick that book up. He also got multiple cover deals with the NHL 2K series a decade ago. Great player. LOVED him when he was on the Flyers.

Red Wings fan here. I can understand the hate. I mean, they have been to the playoffs the last 21 season's in a row which is the most of any North American professional sports team and is 3rd in most Stanley Cup victories. Kinda hard not to be jealous :D .

Was playing on a trip to the joe with friends until the lock-out screwed that all up. I live on the west of the mitten tho so I have been able to catch quite a few Griffins games(the Red Wings farm team in case anyone didn't know).

Been to the Joe a few times, though it's never been to see the Wings play. It's always been the CCHA Frozen Four, for Northern Michigan University's Wildcats. We have an amazing hockey program and it's probably some of my favorite memories of college.

Hockey is a fantastic sport.

Oh and Luke, those picks are amazing! Gotta love the Hurricanes. Did you go to the All-star game when it was in Raleigh last year?

I should have, but nope. NHL all-star games are probably the only professional all-star games I look forward to. And the skills competitions are usually mind blowing.

Everyone should have a Roenick autographed copy of NHL 94

College hockey is great. I went to Western Michigan and was really looking forward to seeing them play at Comerica in the GLI this year in conjunction with the Winter Classic.

My favorite trip to the Joe actually happened with I was like 10 years old. My buddy's uncle worked night security there and one night took 4 of us in and let us skate and play hockey on the ice there. 4 10 year olds had the entire place to themselves. To this day I regret not bringing a camera.

Hockey starts tonight, I'm excited, but still pissed off that it took this long for a deal to get done.

Yes they should, so I'm more than willing to let you give me yours. Looking forward to 3pm.
