Just out of curiosity besides firing up R4 in Bleemcast and watching it glitch out (as all my PS1 games do using Bleemcast) Did SEGA or a 3rd Party put anything on SEGA hardware as driftastic as Ridge Racer?
Light switch rave inducing music included. We had our Daytona but Daytona isn't Ridge Racer. I'm not even sure if Sega Touring Car Championship is close enough. But it did have the light switch rave music.

tokyo xtreme racer 1 & 2 on DC are pretty sweet. also the saturn import Syutoku Battle '97 is one of the most solid racers on the system, imo.TheRev wrote:Just out of curiosity besides firing up R4 in Bleemcast and watching it glitch out (as all my PS1 games do using Bleemcast) Did SEGA or a 3rd Party put anything on SEGA hardware as driftastic as Ridge Racer?

Re: Dreamcast/Saturn Ridge Raceralikes
I've never played R4, but this thread made me want to mention Roadsters which is a pretty fantastic Dreamcast racing game that I feel like nobody ever mentions.
Re: Dreamcast/Saturn Ridge Raceralikes
R4's music is the best in the series. It was also a showcase game for Bleemcast but a disc for it was never made and playing it on the Beta Bleemcast has all sorts of Glitches.
I'm a huge Ridge Racer fan so collecting the entire series (besides the misleadingly named 7 which is really just 6) is on my to do list

Anywho, as someone mentioned before, TXR 1and2 are great racers and perhaps the closest you can get to that R4-Like fix you looking for. Vanishing Point is another DC racer that comes to mind that may interest you so check that one out. Umm maybe Re-Volt... If not then simply Load up some awesome MSR, make an in game custom music CD with nothing but "Club Paris"/ "Passion" and start popp'n them rave lights

Wow man. You need to track it down like right now. For many, it's the definitive Ridge Racer and the series peak. The physics are downright magical, no matter what controller you use.noiseredux wrote:I've never played R4, but this thread made me want to mention Roadsters which is a pretty fantastic Dreamcast racing game that I feel like nobody ever mentions.

This! AND Roadsters sucks on the Dreamcast. I'm sorry but to me it's such an underwhelming game on the DC catalog especially when you look at the consoles other racers it has to offer. Raodsters is one of the few games on the DC that really have kept me from persuing an full US collection.wip3outguy7 wrote:Wow man. You need to track it down like right now. Re: Dreamcast/Saturn Ridge Raceralikes
eh, I find it fun. I obviously don't think it's as good as Sega Rally 2 or Daytona but I think it's a good looking game and fun enough. I think it's really funny that you'd let that game stop you from a full US set considering it's like a $5 game though.CD AGES wrote:Roadsters sucks on the Dreamcast. As far as the Dreamcast's racing library goes, I can't comment too much. I have Roadsters, Test Drive 6, Sega Rally 2, Sega GT, and Flag to Flag... pretty small collection considering all the ones available. Plus to be honest, I'm just not into racing games hardcore enough to really have much opinion beyond "seems fun to me."
