Is there a gun thread?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Eh. I think automatic weapons take everything away from marksmanship. Sure you have grouping, but accuracy doesn't mean a lick.

Broken record: I'm for really long, intensive, and thorough background checks. Getting a driver's license in Germany is probably more difficult than getting a concealed license in the USA and I'm not cool with that, At all.

But I hope the government does its due diligence to ignore the media and makes its own decisions (I realize that won't happen, but I'm not completely empty of faith) and doesn't simply point fingers (that probably won't happen either).

I really hope people can react with any decision made by our government without flipping out. Even "peaceful" protestors can get violent, and violence is what we're trying to avoid.

What about nuclear weapons and anthrax as well?

Not really. There's no justification for owning fully automatic assault rifles that does not also include missiles or other deadly weapons.

I may own 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of all fireworks made in China in 2012. Doesn't sound like much, but it is.

I'd probably spring for a Bazooka if I could afford one as from then on I would always be known as "Bazooka Luke".

On a serious note, I'm there with you on extensive licensing. I think passing multiple tests should be part of it. If someone doesn't want to pass a licensing test, they should be in a "well-regulated militia" like the Constitution calls for.

So once a weapon has the ability to fire automatically its suddenly as dangerous as a nuke? Only if Chuck Norris is wielding it.

Absolutely not. But fully automatic assault rifles are far more dangerous than anything necessary for "sef-protection" and absolutely worthless in hunting (unless your idea of hunting is just killing, in which case we cannot have a civil conversation).

Could not agree more.

As redlettermedia stated in a movie review: "I had to get a psychological exam when I applied at Target".

Depends who your protecting yourself from, personally i believe the 2nd amendment is about protecting yourself from a tyrannical government, to defend yourself if the gestapo ever came knocking.
