What are you listening to? [VGM Edition]

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Currently listening to Earthbound and Yoshi's Island soundtrack. Both start off (as in, like 99% of it) all fun and colourful then both turns into the closest you can get to 16-bit metal by the end!

Touhou: Bad Apple

This is played on a Sega Genesis or Megadrive, in fact, the youtube comments contains links to the ROMs if you want to try that yourself. If I would have seen this on a real Genesis back in the early 90s, I would have peed myself.

Since I first listened to Bad Apple!!, I've come to find out that there are a million spinoff videos related to this song. It actually started as in-game music in the Touhou shooter series in the game Lotus Land Story: Stage 3 Music

After a bunch of internet collaboration, the most popular version of the song culminated in this impressive video: Alstroemeria ft. Nomico: Bad Apple!!

Someone took that video and made this really cool Stop Motion Video

And my favorite video is this traditional Japanese musical arrangement of the song performed in traditional wear: ShouRinka

Laura Shigihara (composer for soundtracks to Plants VS Zombies and To The Moon) performs a Japanese vocal cover of Simon's Theme from Castlevania IV:

Agreed. I was even skeptical about MM2 Dr. Wily's theme, but it works.

Can't decide whether this should go in the Electronic Music thread or this one, but since it's technically from a game, here I suppose.

I edited this with Audacity and now have it looping over and over again. I ♥ Chipzel so much. $10 (or £6) is well worth the price of her Phonetic Symphony album. (Check to see which one you like better, there's the remastered one, which I linked to, and the original one here. I actually think I like the original better than the remastered one.)

The Super Castlevania IV OST is a phenomenal soundtrack to listen to while trying to fall asleep. I hadn't fallen asleep with headphones in since college.

Do you guys have any recommendations for soundtracks that are similar to it? So far I'm thinking parts, just parts, of FFIX have that theme going for it, but I'm hoping for SNES games. Thoughts?
