I'm glad you tried both. This lets you see for yourself how Konami changed things up from Contra 3 to Hard Corps so you can weigh in on the ever popular Contra 3 vs Hard Corps debates.Flak Beard wrote:Well after playing roms of both last night, I can say that I like Contra: HC better so far. It's just completely over the top and Browny kicks ass. The first boss is crazy!
Unfortunately though, I think it might be out of my league when it comes to skill compared to Contra 3. With some practice, I could probably do Browny's game though. It's too bad there's no lives code for the US version. I've got a Genesis 3, so a Game Genie is out of the question.
Now in regards to the game's difficulty, if you REALLY feel like you need some help, there are youtube vids which will let you see the various patterns in the game. Only use them as a last resort though or if you get frustrated. I really think anybody can beat Hard Corps once they know the patterns. It's what seems to make Contra games different from Metal Slug, where a bit of extra skill and luck seem to be required.
Browny has one weapon which seems to be absurdly powerful if you know how to use it from what I've heard. I never used him though, always like Sheena. I typically favor female characters in action games. Nice to see women kicking some ass. You know I don't think I ever finished the last stage in my chosen path in Hard Corps. I need to get back to that game at some point
