I started this thread so we can share info and find out where to get deals on the best quality jewel/game cases for our games. I try my best to clean stickers and gunk of all games, but when cases are busted and cracked I tend to replace them.
I can find packs of empty jewel cases at Staples. The problem with these is that the plastic part the game fits into is black (like a traditional 80s/90s CD), not clear like PS1/Dreamcast games.
I can find packs of DVD/Blu Ray cases at Best Buy. These don't match PS2, Xbox, PS3, etc cases perfectly in terms of color and design. Whether or not that bothers you is a personal preference.
What I can't find is:
- fat double CD cases (for PS1 RPGs)
- slim double CD cases (for certain Dreamcast games like Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, etc)
It looks like there are some of these on Amazon, but I'd like to find a place that sells single cases.

I purchased some GameCube cases from http://shop.bresoftware.com/ once, but shipping is outrageous and they didnt have any double disc cases, but the cases that i did order were practically brand new.

Fry's usually have good deals with ones that have a clear plastic back.

I usually go down to my local retro game store and buy good condition sports ps1 games for 50 cents each, as for the double cd cases I look for the gran turismos and siphon filter, and a few other Cheepies that can be had for a couple bucks. Also saturn imports come in the exact same cases the ps1 games did.

Re: Replacement jewel/game cases thread
some old pc games at thrift stores have double cases.
The problem is that they may be cracked too.
You can get some CD cases at Dollar Stores. Just take apart the case for the crappy cd of music and replace.
I'm sure at a relatives house there may be old cd jewel cases. Most people throw them away, but there may be some empty cases in the garage or basement. Its just the matter of asking if they still need them. After being there for a couple of years they may not have the cd anymore.
I think that its somewhat easy to get US jewel cases for stuff.
It would suck to try and get replacement cases for JP/Pal games. They are shaped differently.

Fat double CD cases are pretty easy to get. First of all, it's just the backs of normal jewel cases snapped onto that black thing in the middle, so the parts of it most likely to get cracked or look bad are also the parts that are easiest to replace.
Re: Replacement jewel/game cases thread
If you are recycling old game cases by purchasing bargain games, beware of sport's titles. They're cheap, but you'll always have the official licensed product sticker that leaves a permanent residue on the plastic.
Re: Replacement jewel/game cases thread
I bookmarked this place for when I needed some replacement CD cases.
http://www.sleevecityusa.com/
I have not ordered from them yet but they do have the fat CD cases and a 2 CD addon for regular jewel cases.

Nice info guys.
And this is a stupid question... but there's no such thing as "replacement" SegaCD/Saturn cases is there?

Unfortuantely no. I've dug around on forums and people have apparently looked into manufacturing some themselves, but the upfront costs would be really, really high.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Nice info guys.

...seems like a great idea for a Kickstarter project though.
