I'm a hardcore nintendo fan. My dream consoles to own is a SNES and an N64 ever since I was a kid and thanks to my new hobby of retro gaming soon enough I will own those 2 great consoles. I grew up with a game boy (even if my first gaming hardware was a mega drive 2) and I loved my gamecube more than my ps2. I've also rather liked the zelda series. I loved the gameboy game link's awakening, have beaten it like 3-4 times. I also have beaten ocarina of time 2 times though it's not my favorite game in the series (I actually find it kind of lacking in some parts but the dungeons are so good I'll let it go this time). Then Windwaker came out. And my love for the franchise trully bloomed. I love the windwaker. Best 3D zelda ever in my opinion. The graphic style is just too beatifull, and Tetra is the only memorable Zelda in the entire series. I also loved the DS Phantom Hourglass though not as much as all the games I've just mentioned.
But then.... Twilight Princess came... and I didn't like it one bit. First of all... the graphics suck. Why so brown nintendo? the zelda game were never brown they were colorfull. Second of all, how many times will you re use the same set pieces in dungeons, and since I've brought that up the story reminds me of ocarina of time (you go in the forest dungeon, then goron mountain.... at least windwaker changed the tribes.... though funny how the water creatures didn't survive the cataclysm since... you know they shouldn't be able to drown), so no points for originality there... and last of all the world is so empty and blant it's... it's just too bad. remember in 2d zelda games where you'd wonder what's on the other side of this cliff only to come back later with a hookshot/feather/other flying item to get across and find treasures, secrets, and new dungeons... well in this game new parts of the map are unlocked in large parts that don's have anything to search for in them. You just go from point a to point b. No exploration. And it's not even through your own free will that you go to point B it's because the game pushes you there. Also the dungeons where too long and boring.
The only thing I liked about TP is midna quite a nice character, she reminded me of Tetra....
but the thing is I disliked this game so much that I stopped playing somewhere at 70% acording to gamefaqs and traded the game in for metroid prime 3 (not that I got far in that one either but I actually don't like that series so I won't complain about a game just because it's gameplay is not to my liking).
So why the long intro? I think I have justified my fondness of Nintendo (so I won't be called another company's fanboy) and my fondness of the Zelda series. But the thing is even if I repeat my self every time I say zelda TP sucked for the reasons above all the dawm nintendo fanboys flame me. FFS guys I'm entitled to my opinion. So anyway I have a better idea of the racketboy community than other gamer forums so I thought I'd start a discusion about this game and if there's someone else out there like me that was greatly disappointed by this game.

I own it, but I haven't played it yet. I've watched my brother play a few hours of it, so I can see where you're coming from. There was just something about the world map being 3D that didn't do it for me, unlike the old 2D Zelda maps. The first and Link to the Past are the only Zelda games that I like, a lot. Although, I've yet to play Ocarina of Time. I hear it good, no?
But I know where you're coming from, pretty much everything you dislike, in games in general. Funny thing is, Twilight got great reviews for the graphics. I fear that I'll like Metroid Prime 3 over Twilight, the thought has actually crossed my mind before.

I didn't really enjoy it, but then again the only 3d Zelda i've really enjoyed (and would consider on par with the 2d ones) is Wind Waker :p

yeah always liked how nintendo fans would diffend windwaker and mario in general by saying the cartoony graphics give it character and that they aren't kiddy games....traitorsZiggy587 wrote: Funny thing is, Twilight got great reviews for the graphics.

Twilight princess might not have the depth or originality of the other zelda games, but the graphics were impressive given the hardware limitations and the age of the console. I have played it recently on my monitor and gamecube and it looks just as good as it ever did, and is easily one of the most visually consistent games available for the console.

Well, I was talking more about the Wii version, but I guess they're equal in graphics.

Its the ONLY Zelda I didn't bother finishing due to lack of interest.

Well I'm happy. Seams I'm not the only one who critisies the game. Maybe in a few years time people will open their eyes like they did with Mario sunshine and they'll accept that even Nintendo makes mediocre games. Then again if the next zelda is the same size leap into awsomeness that mario galaxy from sunshine was, I guess it's worth the wait

I didn't really like it either. One of the things that really got to me was how if I needed a key to open a locked door, I could almost be guaranteed it was somewhere in that room (with the exception of the boss key). I hated how I near always had only one option of where to use a key I had found. They completely removed the exploration and discovery aspects of the dungeons and turned them into linear ruts with light puzzle solving that I only begrudgingly waded through to see which recycled weapon I'd get next.

None of the hype of this game had any effect on me. Over the course of the years we were previewed to it, I couldnt help but notice how boring it looked. Wind Waker stunned the shit out of me. So I just ignored TP entirely. Didn't care. I recently bought it new on amazon simply because it dropped to $20, and I figured it wont get any cheaper than that. I've yet to play it. If I ever do play it, it will be for Midna, because she just seems adorable and hilarious from everything I've seen online. I also already spoiled the ending for myself. Seems pretty typical.
