Good or Bad deal on SMS full package?

Post by Broodstar »

I recently bought this package for about 100$:

Sega Master System (first version)
3D glasses
Light Phaser Gun
Two controllers
Marksman Shooting/Trap Shooting/Safari Hunt (complete in box)
Poseidon Wars 3-D (complete in box)
Shinobi (in box, no manual)
Space Gun (complete in box)
Super Tennis (in box, no manual)
Time Soldiers (cart only)
The Jungle Book (in box, no manual)

Everything looking and working impeccable: the glasses have no scratches, the system looks as it has never been opened and the controllers are working great.
So I thought I’ve made a great deal, but some of my friends (that are at least retro gamers, not necessarily collectors) have gone crazy on me telling me that I’ve paid way too much.

What do you guys think? It was at least a fair financial deal?

I'd say fair to good, but certainly not bad.

Hmm with the 3D glasses in good condition and the games I think you came out alright. Probably right at market value, not a deal but you weren't ripped off.

I agree, with the clean glasses, sounds like a decent deal to me. Maybe not amazing, but certainly not bad.

No idea what European prices are like, but it's not bad for a deal here.

I dunno why anyone else hasn't said so, but that's an absolutely fantastic deal. The majority of the games you got there are $20 games on their own. So yeah. consider yourself lucky.

I'm pretty sure Poseidon Wars is the only one that is somewhat HTF.

Thanks for the answers. So after all is not a bad deal...

It's hard to evaluate the package for the Romanian market because:
1. We don't have a healthy retro gaming market. Some sellers sell after the ebay prices, some sell very cheap because they don't know the value of the products...
For example Trip World for Game Boy was for sale at 5 bucks, a reseller bought it (was faster than the collectors) and now he is selling it for 200 $.
So the prices differ that much in Romania. You either get lucky and buy really cheap or you pay the international price :) (ebay, amazon).
2. Sega is not popular here, so you either find cheap stuff because nobody wants to buy them or you find the same stuff expensive because they are rare for the romanian market.
3. There are not many collectors in Romania so i can't compare prices and collections with others (and the ones that i know told me i paid too much). No one (that i know) collects SMS in Ro.

I was basing it off of the general EU SMS market. SMS was/is very popular there.
