Japanese PSN Exclusives Worth Buying?
After I forgot that I even had a Japanese PSN account, I decided to take a look at the Japanese PSN store recently and holy crap is it full of content not found in the North American store.
I decided to take the plunge and bought a 5000 yen point card and see what's worth getting. So far, I've only bought the absolutely excellent Rockman 5 Complete Works for PS1, since it's STILL not on the North American store.
What else do you guys recommend? I'm thinking of getting Hatsune Miku Dreamy Theatre 2nd but also notice there's a ton of PC Engine CD games like the remake of Valis that will never appear on the North American PSN. Anyway, leave your thoughts on what's worth looking into on the Japan store.

It's pretty easy to just make a Japanese PSN account if it were really important to you.Purkeynator wrote:Even though I hate you now....
OP: If you like the PSP games, I'd grab Dreamy Theater.

Oh is that the Hatsune Miku game? I've seen that but Vocaloid is a little too moe for me.

Malicious looks really cool. You should check out the video section as well, tons of cool PVs and stuff there.
That's on the PSN store?! I'm gonna have to grab that.Purkeynator wrote:LSD

Bumparoni!
So I just set up a Japanese psn account myself (It's really easy.) and need some more suggestions besides what is already here.
First off I don't know any Japanese. I also have heard that setting up a Japanese psn account on a psp is kind of a pain since you are forced to activate/deactivate the account every time you switch regions. I do have a psp that I don't really play so I would be willing to just set it be Japanese at all times since I don't really use it and it would be awesome to use as a PS 1 shmup machine.

I have returned with some suggestions of my own now. Also Malicious, the game Bruno suggested, was actually released in the here in the states on psn so I'll definitely be picking that up soon since that game looks amazing.
Silent Bomber
It's a Ps1 classic and an amazing one at that. I'm to lazy to check if it's in Racket's ps1 hidden gems article but it definitely should be. I had it back when I was a kid and it was great. It's like a futuristic Bomberman, if Bomberman was in the future, in space, and totally bad ass. The game plays almost like Devil May Cry, you can only shoot bombs a short distance so you spend lots of time running around the screen jumping and dodging enemy attacks. Highly recommended by me and many others on the board. I'm not sure how playable it is without knowing Japanese though, I'm guessing all you would be missing is the storyline and maybe some menu stuffs. I will be getting it as soon as have money to blow on Japanese psn cards.
Dark Mist
I came across this googling suggestions on how to find games in the Japanese store. It's described as a Zelda shooter and based on the videos I've watched I'd have to say that's exactly how I'd describe it. The graphics and art style caught my eye right away, it sort of reminded me of The Bastion. The game is in full English so I'm going to guess it's not a Japanese exclusive but what ever it's not in the store in the states and I'll be dammed if I'm going to start a European account now. From what I understand the game doesn't have any type of save feature so you should keep that in mind. The game does have some dlc that was highly recommended from what I saw online.
