32X Clean up Fuzzy Genesis Picture?
I've heard that the 32X cleans up the picture on the Genesis even when playing regular Gen games, but I haven't owned one since it was new and my TV sucked back then so I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference back then. My Genesis has a fuzzy picture and I was wondering if the 32X cleans that up or not.

Not really. Some people claim that the 32X makes Genesis games look *slightly* better or worse - I can't tell the difference. If it does anything, it's so negligible that it's not worth the upgrade.
The only advantage the 32X brings to the Genesis is the ability to play 32X games.
If you want a "sharp" Genesis image, consider an S-video mod. You could also get an SCART output cable and an adapter for component video, but with that you normally have to find a workaround for getting audio output - a Sega CD can fix that problem with its stereo RCA out jacks.

Or just use a model 1 genesis and a headphone jack to rca y adapter.Nemoide wrote:Not really. Some people claim that the 32X makes Genesis games look *slightly* better or worse - I can't tell the difference. If it does anything, it's so negligible that it's not worth the upgrade.

THAT WORKS TOO.
I'm also pretty sure there are people who sell modded SCART cables that have separate RCA audio plugs.

Thanks for the reply guys. I didn't know the audio out via Sega CD worked for cart games too.
I will be getting a 32x at some point anyway, but it's good to know now rather than when I get it and get disappointed.

Some Genesis consoles can have a nasty rainbow effect, the 32X is suppose to get rid of it. Or so I've heard.
If you wanna start talking about Genesis audio... well that's a long road to go down.

s-video mod really cleans up the genesis picture.
Re: 32X Clean up Fuzzy Genesis Picture?
the unfortunate part is a single internal mod of that nature doesn't work for both 32x and master system games.Jamisonia wrote:s-video mod really cleans up the genesis picture.
since 32x must receive rgb. you'd have to mod the genesis and 32x separately.
Lum fan.

You can create the mod externally so that it would allow you to use it for the Genesis output alone or the 32X output.

actually my Sega 32X did fix the rainbow banding effect on my gargoyles game, and have noticed rainbow banding barely on Sonic 2, would have not noticed if I was not looking for it.
