I'm playing on the PS2, and my PS2 stick (Gamester Radica) is not the best by a long shot.
S1mples price was nice though - $50 is more the norm for decent condition. I haven't seen any floating about lately.

@jep - do you have adecent PS2 stick? I think I have a spare PS2>DC converter - I can look, lmk.
I've been thinking of selling my DC stick that I bought from you 1 1/2 years ago. :D It's a little small for my tastes anyway. I prefer the feel of the nice Hori and QanBa sticks. That PS2 > DC converter looks nice. What other converters are available? Would love to have as few arcade sticks as possible while still being able to use them on practically every console that I play shmups/fighters on.
My B/S/T thread! :)

Thanks for asking Mike but unfortunately I don't have a PS2 stick anymore. I actually have a converter for PS2>DC already so maybe I should just look for a PS2 stick.

The best I could muster so far. Using my Tekken 5 Anniversary stick for PS2. Haven't used this thing in ages, nice to have an excuse to hook up my PS2 again.

First, started this game and got to 3-1 but then realized that I had to hold down the shot button to wrack those mad coin bonuses. Mmm grazing.....*drool*

I tried using a stick. Didn't work out so well.
Perhaps because the throw is so far.
I also have a HORI mini I could try.
Went back to the Saturn pad, finally got to 5-1!
My bunghole was puckered so tight for the 3rd phase of the 4-2 boss.

hashiriya1, nice score! I've only made it to the 4-2 boss once and I blew two lives on relatively easy patterns in her first form.

I used to also have one of those Tekken HRAP style sticks, pretty decent stick actually but I sold it a while back along with my cinnabar JPN-PS2 and Cave shooters. The main thing I miss having that setup for was ESPGaluda Arrange mode.

It was pure luck getting by her 3rd phase. One bullet takes up half the screen!

I'm playing on PS2 using a Namco Playstation Arcade Stick (the grey one with yellow buttons - probably my fave stick). If I had a DC copy I'd be playing it using a Hori Fighting Stick SS (Saturn) stick using a Saturn to Dreamcast adapter I bought off ebay. The Hori is a very nice stick too. I'm lucky to own two nice sticks that are fairly mainstream and inexpensive yet perform very nicely out of the box.

Those namco sticks are really really nice for a "stock" stick. I kinda regret selling mine, but I have others that I favor anyway.

I hope I can get to 5-1 in this game again, it's been years since I really logged hours on it.

I personally don't like J-style joysticks for shmups. I can deal with a sanwa if you shim the microswitches to have less play in them. I just use iL (happ competition) for shmups, and love them. I've no-miss-cleared ikaruga on easy and 1cc'd trigger heart exelica with them. At this point, I just pad-hack controllers to make adaptors for my NAOMI sticks, so i use the exact same stick for NAOMI, DC, PS2, Saturn, and 360 shmups. Having a consistent controller across those platforms has helped a lot.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

awe man I had a really good run that got me up to the Dice with 2 lives and 2 bombs. Bombs def do shit on the Dice. But I survived the Dice for a long ass time. Sadly, my run through 2-2 and 3-1 didn't do enough with the Shiki Attack so wasn't scooping up tons of coins or good multipliers... which means even though I survived better than I have before, I still haven't upped my 890M score yet. :\

I will say that even as the guy who picked this game; the guy who found this game to be a gateway drug into the world of shmups -- I'm finding that I love this game even more as I'm understanding it better.

Thanks for suggesting it. I totally forgot I had this game. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have delved so deep into it. I really like the bullet patterns in this one.

Who are you using now?
