Or it could be that Luke just thinks Gamesack is a wretched hive of scum and villainy independent of the fact that there are in-game clips in the videos.ninjainspandex wrote:What other conclusions can be made? You believe that you must get permission from the creator to make a game review, so what creator would ever give permission to someone who might give their game a bad review? I actually saw a "game sack" youtube video for the first time last night. It was over half an hour long review of the Saturn. Lots and lots of game clips from games you usually don't see people cover which was nice but the length of the vid was a bit excessive. Wouldn't think they would ever get into copyright trouble showing parts of games almost 20 years old but who knows with how Sega has been acting lately. Good harmless fun IMO

I actually only watch game review etc videos if they are at least a half hour in length. Generally shorter videos are just the same thing you've already seen/heard in a million other shorter videos.MulishaSoldier929 wrote: I actually saw a "game sack" youtube video for the first time last night. First off, yes. And as I should be.ninjainspandex wrote: Your really full of yourself Luke...
Secondly, it's "you're" not "your".
Tertiary, I'm simply goofing it up with Apple.
See? Snark mode 100% on.
But being honest, all of this "OH DEAR GOD! AVGN is BANNED from YouTube! What's next?!?! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!" was absurd. Wait until James makes announcement for fucks sake.

You are allowed to use clips (audio/video) and still-pictures while making commentaries, critiques, reviews, etc. This is Fair Use, no formal permission is needed from the original content creators.
What's not allowed is "mirroring" - outright stealing and essentially copy/pasting full-length movies, videos, whatever.

I don't think anyone was that dramatic about it (at least not on here), but he didn't deserve it. Not that it matters now though since it's back up anyway.Luke wrote: But being honest, all of this "OH DEAR GOD! AVGN is BANNED from YouTube! What's next?!?! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!" was absurd. It's amazing how easy it is to get slapped with those notices though. I've heard of people getting copyright claims on 100% original content.
