Like most people, I have gay friends, and you know what I call them? John, Kyle and Tom.

The H word and the F word are the most extreme put downs out there, and are reserved for whining, pussy ass little rizzles who, in my experience with the word, always happen to be depressingly hetero.

Regardless of what you assume your gay friends think of your use of the word "homo" or "fag", the gay community as a whole generally finds its usage to be homophobic and disparaging. Equating it with "bad" or "pussy ass rizzles" (hey some sexist and racist language too!) is derogatory to people who are homosexual. Full stop.

Remember, James also posts movie reviews - I wonder if one of those was the issue.

The language of put downs is rooted in irrationally negative stereotypes. By using them, I'm temporarily and consciously switching to a different register to achieve my speech goals.

Don't make me laugh. I don't want to have an "argument" on racism and sexism, I want to censure sexist and racist language when I see it on a forum that I associate myself with so that people don't feel unwelcome or lump this site in with so many other sexist/homophobic/racist gaming communities.

FYI, I doubt there's anything you could "school" me on as regards to language and racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. since I actually "school" people for a living in how discourse functions as regards to identity construction, among other things.

How long does it usually take from a warning to a full channel shutdown?
James was at MAGfest this past weekend... could it have happened in a few short days and he wasn't even aware of it?
I exchanged a few words with him over the weekend, he was a nice guy. Despite my usual disdain for "lol video games" youtube videos, I actually enjoy some of the AVGN stuff.
