PC Games to look forward to in 2013

Post by J T »

This is a nice look at the huge amount of PC games in the pipeline for 2013, and this only scratches the surface. It's crazy how many noteworthy games come out nowadays. It's impossible to play them all.

I was hoping this was a list of exclusives. The vast majority of these are cross-platform...

There's also a lot of stuff here that likely won't be out in 2013.

Still, a nice list of upcoming games.

Here's a list that divides up the exclusives and multiplatforms:

Most of the exclusives for PC these days are either indie games or MMOs. Everything else is mutliplatform. I don't have too much of a problem with that, unless it's a bad port. But there has been a lot of growth in the PC gaming world lately, so I predict that in the coming years we will see fewer bad PC ports of console games, and start seeing more games designed for PC first and then ported to consoles second.

Just put Bootcamp on my Mac. Virtual machine wasn't getting it done for some games. So perhaps I'll play a few of these if my laptop can handle it. Maybe I should make my Bootcamp partition larger.

So in other words, all we have to look forward to in 2013 is more FPS games, more Diablo-ripoff-crossed-with-some-other-genre-or-mechanic-games, and the usual mixed bag of indie goodies.

Awesome. So glad I keep my gaming PC up to date. :?

At least we can play all the multiplatform games at a framerate that's higher than the average movie.

I usually skip the Diablo ripoffs/clones, and don't get the indie stuff until it's in a Humble Bundle. I do like the FPS games though, and there's usually a strategy game or two worth playing per year.

Really, that's just what PC gaming has been like since about 2007. If you don't like it, current-gen PC gaming just isn't for you. Maybe it'll be different next gen.

Whooo! Maybe we can even get the odd 360 port that actually shows us the appropriate keyboard/mouse commands to use, as opposed to 360 controller buttons!

I know, that's why I'm being sarcastic. I think I keep my PC up to date now out of habit (and honestly, a little hope) that things will eventually be different.

It's not that every game coming to PC sucks or anything, but the real standouts, even in pretty tired genres, are few and far between.
