Backup game saves from PS2 and XBOX

Post by executioner »

Call me crazy but I usually tend to backup my game saves after finishing a game or when I put a lot of time into one. Most of these saves are from the PC, PS2, PSP and even emulator save states. All this since the ps1 era were my 300 block memory card decided it was no longer gonna keep my saves and erased everything. I've accidentally erase my ps2 memory twice and once there was a 20 hours FF12 save file there and never played that game again. The easiest backups are PC, PSP, DS (using flash carts) and emulators since you can find easily save folders and zip them or whatever. On PSP I prefer to use Sony PSP Media Manager which makes the process a lot faster and user friendly.

On PS2 I was using ARmax for years with the memory manager but booting it up takes some time and since the advent of FreeMcboot and ulaunch it would be a simple process of copying folder to your usb, but the naming of theses folders is what makes it annoying. Any ideas? What I found was usually solutions to extract from .max or other formats to your mc but nothing about the other way around because I would like to keep track of which game it is. Also just thought about xbox, do you copy the whole Udata folder?

Yep, and the TDATA as far as I can tell. I've been backing stuff up lately, too. I recently added a second modded Xbox to my living room. I discovered that if they're both on, they recognize eachother and you can FTP between them. So I've been playing X-Men Legands from the HDD on both of them and I can FTP the save back to the other box next time I play. I also backed up all my UDATA and TDATA to my PC and I'm planning on burning to CD.

I also backed up all my PS/PS2 saves to my PS3. I think I can than move those to a flash drive but I haven't yet.

I've been thinking of getting a second xbox for my living room since mine is in the bedroom and its a green halo one so having a black one would be nice. Good tip about the FTP option.

What's good for backing up PS 1 saves? I've thought about getting a code breaker, but I can never find the PS 1 version anywhere online. I've got saves for great games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Dino Crisis and others that have been sitting on those old PS 1 memory cards for way too long now. I want to preserve them. As I get older and busier, the thought of replaying a lot of those games should anything happen to their saves is not appealing.

Oh, and I sympathize over the loss of FF12 data. I've put a LOT of time into that particular game

What, you don't like my cheap solution (PS3)?

Sorry, I've got no useful info.

Actually, this may be a dumb question, but is there any way to transfer PS1 saves to the PS 3 hard drive(not that I have a PS 3 at the moment, but that could change)

That's what I do (except mine is modded with an ancient chip and FMCB'd). Works like a charm.
