No firsthand experience w/those. For $6 though, yr better off waiting for a system w/an adapter to pop up and get it in a bundle?
That wire looks awfully chincy - things like that drive me nuts. I'd hold for real deal.

Re: are these 3rd party NGPC AC adapters any good?
after a bit of snooping, I can't find proof that an official AC adapter was released in the US. Would a Japanese AC adapter be safe to us? (I really don't understand voltage, etc).
Re: are these 3rd party NGPC AC adapters any good?
Japan has slightly lower voltage, but the difference is mostly negligible. Provided you take normal measures around the outlet as you usually would (don't plug in too many cords, don't stack blankets around it) you'll be just fine.

I'm fairly certain that a 1st party AC adapter was released out here in the states.
In any event, another possible avenue you can look into is searching for a complete "Shock n Rock" peripheral attachment by Nyko. It comes with an AC adapter for NGPC.

Hey.
Theres an adapter that can work with the NGPC.
Its a pelican GBC A/C adapter.
It looks alot like the adapter from that ebay link.
I have a clear Purple one and a clear light blue one, I think:

The pic there is not like the one I own. But is in the right direction. It looks alot like the one on the right of this picture:

I no longer have the box(or was it a clamshell?? But it was beat up and I threw it away). But it was stated on the plug label (and package), that it can work with NGPC. I bought it some years ago at a second hand electronics store. It says the same for the Blue one too. I found that a fleamarket a couple of years ago.
I dont have them on me right now. They are in storage.
I have tried them though. It works.
I wouldn't call it an issue. but there was something that happened when I used it with the NGPC.
If you have the NGPC plugged in, the system will alert that your CR2032 is bad. Upon turning on the system. At start-up, the Game will stop and the system will beep at you, Telling you that the battery is dead. But you can still keep playing.
I dont know if its because my battery was starting to go bad, (it wasn't at the time), or if by putting in the plug; it bypasses something causing the warning.
I didn't try it then, but maybe you can start it up without the 2032 battery and just keep it plugged in.
The 2032 battery seems to just be used for the built in horoscope and preferences on the NGPC.
So to make a long story short. A pelican GBC plug will work with a NGPC.

I can assure you, there was an official AC adapter released in North America. I have about a dozen of these in box. There was a bunch of dead stock released a year or so ago.

Re: are these 3rd party NGPC AC adapters any good?
hey everyone I'm updating this thread with other relevant information.
today at the flea market I picked up a gameboy color plug. it's a smoky-clear purple plug made by high frequency. it says on the plug that is compatible with Gameboy Color and Gameboy pocket
it looks a lot like the one I posted pictures from earlier.
-It does work with the Neo Geo Pocket color.
-it will still work if you plug it in and don't have 2032 battery in it
-even if you have a working 2032 battery installed, it still going to warn you that the battery is dead.
-a little red light keeps flashing as long as you have the system on with the plug
-the system still works normally when you go back to your original way it was used. (2032+AA)
So yes, gameboy color plugs will work on a NGPC
