Material to rest car speakers on

Post by treepop »

I recently added these speakers:

to the LP-2020A+ Lepai amp to my Mame machine and they sound AWESOME!

I cut out the foamy rubbery type packing material from the 2 LP-2020A+ Lepai's I purchased and used them as a spacer for my new pioneer speakers. As you may or may not notice the middle section of those 3 way speakers protrudes and I needed some extra spacing.

I would now like to put those same pioneer speakers in my neo cab, but am out of packing material to create a spacer. Where can I find some nice cheap material to put between my speakers and cab?

FYI I am running the amp through a custom made adapter that hooks to the non amplified headphone outs of the neo geo board. So I wont fry the onboard amp.

Thanks!

Maybe pick up some neoprene washers at the hardware store if you just need vibration dampening. Or if you want to seal the gap, circles cut from sheet packing foam in a pinch. The translucent flexible stuff, not styrofoam.

Not sure. I have been using recycled packing materials for so long and haven't had to buy any. Could check Office supply stores as I've seen general packing supplies when buying tape there. Else maybe a UPS/Fedex store or other mailbox place.

Kinda gross ... but you could always go on the hunt for old bed toppers.
