Games that don't exist but you wish did

There really needs to be an RPG that fully allows you to create your own spells.

Re: Games that don't exist but you wish did
hm....fair enough. I will give the game another try. I DO remember that I LOVED the classic Sonic acts. But the modern Sonic acts had the same problems I mentioned before with their level design. Also, I think the 2-3 last zones, even in classic Sonic mode, were not as good, but I'm not sure. I have to give the game another full playthrough. But I spent my entire christmas vacation playing Sonic All Star Racing Transformed (AMAZING game btw) so I have to wait for easter when I'll have days off again to replay Sonic GensKey-Glyph wrote:I definitely get what you mean about the feel of the original Genesis games being perfect -- they're solid, well-designed, and really flow -- but I disagree that Sonic Generations isn't built around precision jumps in (most of) the Classic acts. It's something that specifically thrilled me about the game: that if you time things just right, you'll fly through those levels. I even thought to myself, "This is what it must have felt like to play the original games and learn all the tricks for the first time." I mean, it has been so long since any of us fans didn't know a sidescrolling Sonic level like the back of our hands, and this game reminded me what that wonderment of the discovery felt like again.
I was also incredibly motivated to play those Classic levels over and over, even after I'd completed the Acts and could technically have moved forward -- another thing that hadn't happened for me in a Sonic game in ages, and which I took to be another sign of Generations' quality.
Also another game I would like to see being made: a retro RPG where Racketboy members are the party members and NPCs. I can imagine it now. "Noiseredux's legendary quest for the lost game boy games"

The spellmaker in Morrowind was pretty extensive, especially if you understood how combining effects could modify the results. But allowing full freeform like you can do in a pen & paper RPG is an incredibly difficult design task.o.pwuaioc wrote:There really needs to be an RPG that fully allows you to create your own spells.

Beat me to it. Morrowind did a great job at spell creation.MrPopo wrote:The spellmaker in Morrowind was pretty extensive, especially if you understood how combining effects could modify the results. Well that, and there's the fact that most of the time when people gripe about whatever the latest entry in the series is they're whining about something that's been changed.Dylan wrote: Sure Zelda games are thematically the same (save the kingdom/world from an evil force), but I just can't understand how people deny the unique stylistic and practical elements that each of these games possess.

I had heard this, but I had heard that it was very limited, and usually focused on certain effects, like range. Is it instead full on magic combining?BurningDoom wrote:Beat me to it. A Super Sentai/Power Rangers RPG. What better fit is there for a genre all about party management than a series about teamwork?
Capcom vs. Sega. It would also be cool if Sega and Nintendo made a Sega Smash Bros.
A Kamen Rider racing game, with on-foot Kabuto, Black RX's car, and ShinkenRed on a horse as secret characters.

One of my dream games right here. Especially if they made it all heavily 90s console war themed. Sega's got just as many great franchises to draw from as Nintendo does, if not more. It'd work great!3DSStrider wrote: It would also be cool if Sega and Nintendo made a Sega Smash Bros.

That's what I've been trying to say. There's absolutely no way in hell voice acting can hurt a game if it's done WELL, emphasis on the word WELL.BurningDoom wrote:Voice-acting in Zelda isn't something to get upset about. It's something that's quite common in most games nowadays and is just simple progress as technology progresses. Don't be afraid of change.
And I just believe in standards. You hand me a AAA game in 2012 without voice acting and I'm going to laugh at you, unless it serves a thematic purpose (like how you can't speak in Journey), or there are financial/technological limitations (a low budget indie game like To the Moon). There's no excuse for it in modern Zelda games though. We see people carrying out full on conversations in modern Zelda games and we have to just read the text? Seriously Nintendo? This isn't 1986 anymore. The Zelda series needs to GROW UP.
