Anyone else have love for Telenet?

Post by TheRev »

Technically they were a 3rd party but did their best work on the Mega Drive and PC Engine

Valis III is one of my favorite games of all time, Yuko WAS HOT!!!!!! I think seeing a review of Valis III and a picture of her in an Old Mega Play magazine kickstarted puberty for me.

But then you had El Viento and the other Earnest Evans games which were great. Plus Telenet had some decent shmups too.

Oh and Wolf Team they were eventually sold off to Namco to make the Tales of Games.

Still, I have a great love for Valis III with it's mutant cross between Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man 3 (You can slide) plus the music was just so good it was also on the PC Engine with better music since it was a CD game.

So? anyone else got love for this forgotten developer of classics nobody talks about?

I don't know too much about them, but I've played all of the Genesis Valis games. I've been meaning to play the PC-Engine versions since they're clearly superior.

I've been keeping an eye on Wolf-Team. Not only did I write about the game: Devastator, I also learned that they are responsible for Dino-Land Pinball; a game I had for the Genesis as a kid.

I've had my eye on El Viento for the Mega Drive for a while, and I already have Valis III. I wasn't aware that they were by the same developer, though.

Wolf Team was a separate team they were owned by Telenet for awhile before being sold to Namco, From there Wolf Team went on to create the Tales of Series until it was disbanded a year or so ago.

Well, I don't know if what they've done since is all that great, but El Viento and Valis III are pretty righteous, from what I've played of them.

Apparently Granada is one of their games, which is unfortunately not that good, in my opinion.

But seriously, Telenet Japan and Wolfteam made some pretty good stuff, Gaiares and Valis III are among my favs on the Genesis/MD and Granada, Sol-Deace and El Viento are great too. Most of their stuff on the PC Engine CD/TG-CD isn't too shabby either. Really wish I had both a PC-88 and X68k though as most of their output is centered around the Japanese computing scene.

 Yeah, sorry. It starts out fun enough, until you get cornered in a small, walled off section, and gang raped by a million relentless little pod enemies; two more rising to take the place of each one that falls before them. Shooting continuously while strafing around. You're not dying, but you're not gaining any ground either. It's certainly purgatory if I've ever seen it.
No thank you. Not for me.
