I know, I know...crazy talk. But I try the oven method because it was the next step in trying to find a fix for the zombie 360.

What can I say? It works fine. Not a precise fix by any means, but sometimes a caveman approach works better than that. Just keep the temp low and cover everything that's not the GPU and CPU.

I say all that as someone who fixes things for a living and as a hobby. Don't knock it til you try it. :D
Well that wasn't a knock at you, personally. I understand the principles behind sticking it in an oven. And really, it's not a horrible idea. At least in a last ditch effort kind of way. I would try the oven before wrapping it in blankets. But really, you can go to Lowes Depot or any local hardware store and get a Wagner or Black & Decker heat gun for like $30. With a heat gun, you can at least focus the heat to a particular area. This gives you the advantage to heat up the GPU much hotter than you can get it in the oven (without cooking everything else at the same time).

I've fixed quite a few, the kits to fix them are a scam just go to lowes or homedepot and buy the stuff it will cost you around $5 make a holder for the heat gun and use a temp sensor ( i use my scope-meter(digital muliti meter with scope it has a temp prob as well with a function for it.) to reach the temp desired. Now most models have a different temp that the solder will melt to find this out heat up one of the pins to something like a cap and once it goes then remember that temp write it down. I've fixed around 50 ps3's and 360s with this and they are all still working that i know of.

oh BTW while your at it check all the caps if you have the time. Also if you add a better cooling situation it will help it from happening again I use the best thermal compound around MX-4 the reason I use this is the electrical side of things Arctic silver is well silver and it conducts electricity you don't want that it can get on the pins and short it out very easily. most of the kits and people will sell you or tell you arctic silver 5 do not fall for it. PM me if you want some help.
