See, if they put something like this on the Wii U, in some MMO style or just a huge singleplayer game, they could make huge amounts of money. But they choose not to for whatever dumb reason.KDub wrote:I've always wanted a 3D Pokemon RPG
Catching Pokemon has to be more like hunting/sneaking around though. No just walking into grass.

You didn't have to waggle to rollZeroAX wrote:I'm not willing to debate about SonicG, but DKCR awesome? Really? Waggle to roll wasn't what I was dreaming of in a DKC sequelMenegrothx wrote: DKC Returns is awesome, as is Sonic Generations.
I hated DKCR for other reasons, like its crap design and missing features. It's the worst Donkey Kong Country game.
And as for the Zelda thing, we've had like fifty Zelda games that are all the same. The lack of voice acting is just one of many things Nintendo needs to change in that stale, aging series
Frankly, all Nintendo games suck these days.

I'm perfectly happy with my sucky, stale, aging Nintendo games.
Most of the ideas people come up with to 'revitalize' those franchises are completely awful anyways.

I honestly don't understand it when people say that all Zelda games are the same. If you compare the Zelda releases on major consoles to each other:Gamerforlife wrote: And as for the Zelda thing, we've had like fifty Zelda games that are all the same. Zelda/Adventure of Link -> Link to the Past -> Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask -> Wind Waker -> Twilight Princess -> Skyward Sword
These games are definitely distinct and divergent from each other. Visually and artistically they are drastically different. The overarching mechanics change for nearly every game (such as the transition to 3D in OoT, the 2D sidescrolling in AoL, the map and exploration system in WW, the three day system in MM, the introduction of motion controls in TP).
while Link's character is fairly static (I made an extremely long post about why that's justified sometime ago, maybe I'll try to find it), the other characters demonstrate mutability from game to game. Look at Zelda in OoT, WW, TP and SS in comparison to each other. Her personality evolved greatly between all of those games. While Ganon is closer to static, at the very least his physical design is always different. Besides that, look at his portrayal in games like WW (which shows a much deeper and more complex Ganon than we'd yet seen in the series). Biggest of all is how different the NPCs and other characters vary from game to game. You have the lively but tragic people in OoT, the oblivious or grim people in MM, the rigid and realistic people in TP, and the eccentric and lively people in SS or WW. Combine with that the varying structure of Hyrule and each demonstrates an overall much different persona than its brethren.
The Zelda games can't just be declared the same because the main character is Link and he explores dungeons and fights monsters. Dungeon designs change in composition and style from game to game. A perfect example of this would be the comparison of the dungeons in Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. In OoA the dungeons are centered around overarching puzzles, in OoS they're centered around action and engaging enemies. Despite some recurring enemies, the monster designs also vary greatly from game to game. Despite some recurring tools (bombs, bow and arrow, hookshot), each game produces unique ones (masks in MM, unique shields in SS, beetles in SS, the gust jar in WW, and the double clawshot in TP to name a few).
Sure Zelda games are thematically the same (save the kingdom/world from an evil force), but I just can't understand how people deny the unique stylistic and practical elements that each of these games possess.

Re: Games that don't exist but you wish did
I definitely get what you mean about the feel of the original Genesis games being perfect -- they're solid, well-designed, and really flow -- but I disagree that Sonic Generations isn't built around precision jumps in (most of) the Classic acts. It's something that specifically thrilled me about the game: that if you time things just right, you'll fly through those levels. I even thought to myself, "This is what it must have felt like to play the original games and learn all the tricks for the first time." I mean, it has been so long since any of us fans didn't know a sidescrolling Sonic level like the back of our hands, and this game reminded me what that wonderment of the discovery felt like again.ZeroAX wrote:Look, in my opinion Generations is a good fun game. But... the levels aren't designed around precision jumping.
I was also incredibly motivated to play those Classic levels over and over, even after I'd completed the Acts and could technically have moved forward -- another thing that hadn't happened for me in a Sonic game in ages, and which I took to be another sign of Generations' quality.

You can even break up Zelda and Adventure of Link, since they're so very different. The only Zelda games which are so very alike are the Game Boy ones, and they very similar to LttP.Dylan wrote:I honestly don't understand it when people say that all Zelda games are the same. Oh I just meant that they were on the same console. Yeah, Zelda 2 is really divergent from Zelda. Even though Majora's Mask borrows a lot of its graphical assets from Ocarina of Time, it still really distinguishes itself from it.o.pwuaioc wrote:You can even break up Zelda and Adventure of Link, since they're so very different. Voice-acting in Zelda isn't something to get upset about. It's something that's quite common in most games nowadays and is just simple progress as technology progresses. Don't be afraid of change.

King's Field IV (or V in Japan). As much as people love to compare Dark Souls to King's Field, it's simply not the same, at all. I DO NOT get the awesome feeling from Dark Souls that I do from King's Field. It doesn't have a similar level-up system at all. It's not chock-full of secret passages and such like King's Field to discover, it's not nearly as focused on exploration as King's Field, and it doesn't have that awesome eerie soundtrack.
I want a REAL King's Field IV game, with all those things that I fell in love with the series for in it.
