Sony's Playstation 1 ruled the second half of the 1990s and there were hundreds of great games for the console. However, some hidden gems are still out there for serious collectors. This is Part 2 of my Hidden Gems series with local game collector Reggie.

Games Shown:
Elemental Gearbolt
Wild 9
Swagman
Pong: The Next Level
Colony Wars
Buster Bros Collection
Strider 2
Point Blank
Raycrisis Series Termination
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile

Cool video! Maybe I missed it, but where do you know Reggie from?

So what method you YOU use to record those pesky light gun games? I have to record mine to tape since I don't have a CRT in the room where I usually record games. Fortunately the tape records in the same digital format I usually capture with. Final Cut Pro X can't even capture game footage unless it's on tape first.

Reggie used to run a local retro gaming shop called D-Pad here in the Seattle area. I met Reg & Emilio there, and they are just the coolest dudes...and serious game collectors. They still run booths and sell games at local expos...

I still have a huge JVC CRT tv...because so many of my consoles are older. I'll always have an older tv because of that. As for capture, I just use the Elgato USB device connected to my Macbook. Simple!

Another great video, your presentations are professional with true enthusiasm.

I remember that I Hate U episode when the driving controller was brought out as a Spinner controller. I wonder if it would work for Pong or Buster Brothers or some of the other SHMUPs you come across?

The owners moved across Puget Sound to Renton, so now it's on hold until they find another space to rent. Hopefully D-Pad will make a glorious comeback.

Is that the little white thing? If so, I think I bought one of those at one point but it had several issues and I returned it. I don't think it was able to capture Genesis video. The video I did get it to work with recorded with heavy artifacts even in the higher quality mode. There was no passthrough for the video so I couldn't see what I was playing live without delay. Certainly didn't want to use splitters and degrade the video. Maybe we're talking about different devices, though.

Yep... it's pretty simple and works really well with my setup. However, I've heard of people having problems but it must be with a particular setup...cuz it works flawlessly with all my consoles...and even my old XP computer via S-Video...
