These people are angry, but they have nothing to say - about games or about violence. It's nothing but white noise.

Sometimes for supposedly right reasons and sometimes ignorance regins.

I do remember reading that novels/books were burned back in the 1800's because they were corrupting the youth of the day. Books that are tame now and considered classics.

Still today some books are banned in certain schools. Not specifically for their content but for what others think the content may do to the innocent mind of the children.

Of a funnier note I did read up once on the "disco is dead" thing from a few decades back. Where disco LP albums and 8tracks were burned in a bonfire to get rid of them. They tried to make people forget about the last few years of a fad. I Kinda do like that genre. Its just people on a bandwagon.

Scared, emotional, ignorant people on a mob mentality.

The people doing this may think they are doing the world a favor, but banning things make other people want it more.

I also think that we are more informed and intelligent than those book burners of the past.

The Novel 'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelly does not corrupt the youth. No matter what your great-great grandparents had to say. Its a literary classic.

How about donating them to a charity? Or would that not satisfy their need to destroy something?

I'd love to see the "ample evidence" that video games cause violence. I have a feeling that it's just anecdotal at best and a gut feeling at worst. Probably just A old people saying "in my day..." and then doddering off on some story about chasing wooden hoops down a dusty road and how they never had violence in their day and how you could leave your door unlocked and kids could have whole conversations with strangers.

The movie thing is especially funny because of Netflix, torrents, etc.

Exactly what I was thinking. Go buy a bunch of $5 violent movies from Wal-Mart, and voila! Make hundreds of dollars in profit!
