Well, took a dozen runs to realize when you're properly grazing you'll get a red ball around your character and a slight jingling (of coins / points I assume).

Anyways, still not doing all I need to do points-wise, but hit stage 5 (3-1) with 3 hits remaining and that stage ate me alive - had no clue what path to take.

The trick for bosses with Kotaro is to use the rapid shot. His hold shot homes in on the boss, but it does significantly less damage compared to regular enemies; rapid shot to 1/4 hp then hold shot with x8 multiplier. I believe the last part of the boss throws all the coins at you after you destroy it regardless of the shot type, so it should be okay to rapid shot the last part to death with a x8 at the end.

From what I've seen, Type 1 Sasuke is the best character for bosses, hands down. One fully charged hold shot will take down almost any boss part that I've seen so far; Just line up your shot and the x8, and watch it fall.

Don't forget to kill boss 1-1's limbs before attacking its main body. Time the destruction of limbs with bullet grazing to get that x8.

For those who suicide on 1-2, it's best to do it at the very beginning, IMO.

I usually suicide right at the start so don't have any coins to drop

The Stage 2-1 Midboss's last form also has 2 limbs I believe. And for anyone taking down the Stage 3-1 boss, a good trick is to only kill one color of dice at first, and then graze when the other colors line up and clear a whole row. Eventually, gold dice will stop this and you'll have to clear both colors. However, at this point you will still get row clears of gold dice, since its the only thing that destroys them, so timing grazing here will get you a lot of points too.

I'll make that video tomorrow running through Stage 3-1.

Slightly higher score even though I didn't get to 4-2 this time. Getting a lot more 8x.

Edit to avoid double post:

Took a couple more runs before bed. I hadn't played Kuga before. I can score a lot better during the stages themselves but the boss fights are totally different and harder for me. All my deaths were on boss fights... I will need to learn how to handle the bosses, and I should be able to improve by switching to kuga.

I haven't played the DC version, but where are you noticing slowdown?

I wanted to hold out until the weekend because I have so much stuff to do, but my PS2 was calling out to me as I was laying in bed. I had to mute the TV because the mrs is asleep, but I find I play a lot better with headphones on while listening to metal.

I hate the damn 3-2 boss(es). I just bomb their 3rd phase. Too lazy to learn the pattern. As you can see from my results, I'm a bomb spammer.

So this slowdown I'm getting isn't because it's a bad port? I'm playing on PS3 as well.

If so, very interesting. How bad is it? There was a noticeable difference going from DC to PS2 for me, but now that I am used to the PS2 version it feels okay.
