Metallica's recent output is about as far removed from the classic Metalica (Killers, Ride the Lightning & Master of Puppets) as possible - It always pains me to see how sucessfull they have become when so many other thrash bands from their era haven't enjoyed a fraction of the sucess Metallica have had. In my eyes, Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, Death Angel & Slayer are all far more deserving; the best things about Metallica got fired shortly before release of the first album and died in an unfourtunate accident, respectively.

Master of Puppets is their best, hands down.

I'm one of those who feels that everything before Black was good, and that Black and everything since has gotten progressively worse (I am not a fan of Black - it marked the beginning of the end for a solid band and is grossly overrated).

Their last 2-3 albums are total shit.

Always have and always will be a Megadeth fan.

At least they stayed true to their roots. Granted it's practically the Dave Mustaine Show now but still. They do an awesome live show. Besides, somebody who had Saturday night palsy and can still play a hell of a lot better than most professional guitarists deserves mad respect.

That sums up my thoughts exactly! I have no interest in Metallica's current output.

Ain't gonna bother with this one either, they've just dissapointed me in so many ways. The other day I was watching some kind of monster and was surprised with the part were Mustaine was invited for the Metallica group therapy or whatever and was amazed how he still was bumed about the whole fiasco which was so long ago nobody even cares. Megadeth is the best, I'm so sad I wasn't able to see them in Mexico on june when I went there because that was my only chance to be able to see them ever.

I've seen them live. They're not that good live to be honest. Hetfield's voice just cannot do the stuff he could do 20 years ago. So when they try and play some of the classics they sound awful. The new stuff sounds pretty accurate from a performance point of view but just sucks. Because it is poor quality music. rather than being played poorly.

Don't get me started on the guitar solos on the new album. I mean Hammet never was a 'great' guitarist, but these new solos, man are they terrible. On 'The Day That Never Comes' he seems to go hell for leather like he's trying to prove he can play fast and then sort of loses interest half way through and then just goes fwapfwapfwapbfgsdfubgfghdfgngnlknklvcnblkncbvkln all the way down the neck.... I'd be ashamed if I ever recorded that solo...

some of the riffs are pretty decent but the songs seem to be long just for the sake of being long. like they were all "hey puppets doesn't have a song under 5 minutes, let's make this one right about the same way."

plus they still didn't get rid of the stanger snare drum.

i'm bout ta sting you wif mah stanger!
