I'd watch a video of this, Chaz.dunpeal2064 wrote: I could make a video of how to fairly safely tackle stage 3-1. It was the first "shmup wall" I ever ran into, over a year ago, and I have a fairly safe way to get through it, although I do drop a bomb occasionally if things get out of hand.

Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2013 (Castle of Shikigami II)
Too tired to concentrate tonight, but I've been playing (pretty bad) for about an hour. I now see why you guys like Kohtaro so much. At first I was like "yeah, and?" but then I did his Shikigami Attack and realized what was going on. Unreal. USing him is like a diff game. But like I said, just too tired to get a good run in tonight.

Agree with the above...very different experience using Ko instead of Sayo.

I still don't know any names, but the first 3 characters are all about the same for me.
I'm a bit better with the first gal, her bullet canceling is excellent obviously, but I get the extend too quickly (end of stage 2 every run) so it doesn't really help me with her.
Only in the high 600 mil range so far, so not posting anything yet. 2-2 boss pattern is getting a bit easier though.

Up to 793,000,000 with Ko but having trouble on bosses with him. With Kim and some of the other characters I feel like the bosses are easier. But with Ko my score is still higher.

I think you mean Sayo? She's the one that shoots cards like in Pocky & Rocky, right? I like her Shikigami Attack as a shield.I'm a bit better with the first gal, her bullet canceling is excellent obviously, but I get the extend too quickly (end of stage 2 every run) so it doesn't really help me with her.

yeah totally. Ko is amazing thru the levels, but bosses are so much easier with Kim. I'm torn between those two myself.ZenErik wrote:Up to 793,000,000 with Ko but having trouble on bosses with him. ok, yesterday I tried it just long enough to find out that it isn't a very good backwards compatible game for my PS3. Today I put in a couple of runs to get a starter score:
dsheinem- 325,605,040 - Stage 2-2 (boss) - Kohtarou-1 - PS2
dsheinem- 325,605,040 - Stage 2-2 (boss) - Kohtarou-1 - PS2

Why isn't it?dsheinem wrote:ok, yesterday I tried it just long enough to find out that it isn't a very good backwards compatible game for my PS3. Today I put in a couple of runs to get a starter score:

On a sort of related note, I feel like there is more slowdown in the PS2 version of this game compared to the DC version. Could be wrong. I didn't play them back to back, but the PS2 version felt slower at times.
