It's alright. They have some interesting articles.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I could have argued, but I just wanted to get out. Thinking about it, I probably helped myself save some money, as I have found the game online for much less. Anybody have any experience with Game Informer? Is it actually worth getting, or is it just crap? I use a couple of online sources for game news, but something solid like that would be nice, along with the reviews.

I don't like Game Informer. They think VERY highly of their opinions, and I've seen more them disrespect readers on more than one occasion because of it. I also don't agree with their gamer mentality; they come off very "bro gamer" with a high opinion of FPSs and sports games, while at the same time not appreciating a lot of other genres and not appreciating classics (which seems strange since they've been in publication for so long).Forlorn Drifter wrote:Anybody have any experience with Game Informer? Hmm I have seen them take quite an interest in all genres. They have had several retro and indie focused articles...

It's painfully obvious that they prefer FPS and have the bro-gamer attitude.

It is debatable, but far from painfully obvious. And I read most every issue, and am also not a big FPS fan...BurningDoom wrote:It's painfully obvious that they prefer FPS and have the bro-gamer attitude.

I read every issue too, just because I get it for free with the GameStop PowerUps rewards thing (which I'm not renewing, BTW, since I seem to spend more on classic games anyways). Doesn't mean I prefer it, though, it's just because it's free.Jmustang1968 wrote:It is debatable, but far from painfully obvious. Electronic Gaming Monthly is a much better printed choice, and there's TONS of websites with more professional game "journalists" than Game Informer.

Game Informer is a PR rag designed to hype/sell the most popular games GameStop carries - COD, Madden, etc... Avoid.
Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Does anyone know why Gamestop retags new games and sells as used?

Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
They're probably not allowed to set the "new" price lower than the standard company-wide level on an individual store basis, so when a single location has too many new copies of a certain game they turn them into "used" copies so they can charge less for them. That's my guess anyhow.AppleQueso wrote:Their way of clearing things out I assume.CRTGAMER wrote:Does anyone know why Gamestop retags new games and sells as used?
