Smile: For new years I went to a friends place and we watched movies for a good while. At mid night we ate s'mores outside by a fire with his two sisters their boyfriends and a friend of his sister. At four in the morning we watched Dark Knight Rises and everyone was on one of the two couches. I fell asleep and woke up with the sisters friend like clutching my legs like a teddy bear. I couldn't get her to wake up or get my legs free so I had to sleep in a awkward painful way.
Frown- my back is now killing me

We can't afford an exterminator, so we pretty much just spray Raid. Would they live in the walls?

Also, don't think of my family as slobs. I mean, roaches are quite common on Hatteras Island. And then there was the house fire around March or April last year, and God knows that this house wasn't exactly squeaky clean when we moved in.

Our last house was wood-frame and our current house is concrete block. I can confirm that I've seen, maybe, one or two roaches total in a little over two years. At the old house they'd sneak in all the time. It didn't help that we lived in the woods, either. We sprayed once a month and kept the place clean, but they still managed to get in. One of the nicest things about our moving has been the noticeable decrease of bugs in general.

I'm out in the woods in a shack more or less and I see roaches a lot. Not enough to alarm me, but I do have some bug bombs on standby just in case of infestation. I have several pets so bug bombing the house would be quite the operation.

They might, but if there is no food for them to eat and no place for them to nest, they will go away. Our house was built in 1928, and it is about as air-tight as a sieve. (Seriously, we had an energy audit...we didn't exactly pass with flying colors...) Nonetheless, we keep it very clean, and we only see roaches when the seasons change and they try to sneak inside for the winter.

We also place traps in areas where we think that they might hide, and we change them out with some regularity. (We also hunt down and kill any bug that we see in the house.) We have small children and pets; so, we do not use any chemicals, like Raid. Likewise, we have never hired an exterminator, and I do not anticipate ever doing so.

My mom also has a theory that they got in or just got worse after bringing some store-bought boxes, since those little shits eat the glue in those things. And it sucks for me since a lot of my stuff's in cardboard boxes. Wish I could afford something plastic and air-tight. And it does seem like they're getting worse since the weather's been getting colder, especially around heat sources (i.e. the stove/oven exterior, the bottom of my laptop as it sits on a cooling pad) and I pray they're not in any of my electronics. It should also be worth noting that my flatscreen (my brother sold it to me for $100, even though he got it from a friend) has a big hole in the back, though there's no real issues with how it works.

Maybe put down some traps near the warmer places so they'll get nabbed when they go explore for food.

Frown: My wife's vacation is over. Not complaining about having the house all to myself, but after having her around for nearly a week, I miss her already.

Smile: Thanks to Christmas loot and gift cards, I picked up Sleeping Dogs which so far has been a scream. Looking forward to logging in a few hours on the game this afternoon.

Barf: Meeting with a friend at a local Bone Fish grill. Beats going to somewhere like the Olive Garden, but buying food you don't care for always stinks.

Pissed- mom told me I could eat and do a few other little things last night before I started doing my chores, now that it's morning she isn't even letting me eat while she piles on chores and is hardly doing anything.
