My GameStop is alright most of the time actually. The manager has been a complete douche to me a few times but he's also been really cool to me as well. We talked about Dynasty Warriors and the WiiU when I picked up WO3H about a week ago and was pretty pleasant. Didn't even bother me with that whole power-up rewards nonsense.

I pre-ordered the Neo Geo X from GameStop because I mistakenly thought it was a GS exclusive. My order never shipped until I contacted them and asked them to ship it. Apparently they had forgotten. Lovely.

^^ wow, what a bunch of idiots. Hopefully yours doesn't arrived all banged up like what folks were getting from Best Buy. Guys at the neogeo forum posted some pics and they weren't pretty ... speaking of the neogeo forum ... best saved for another topic.

My box has a bit of cosmetic damage, but nothing worth getting excited over.

Is it just me, or do a lot of "GameStop exclusives" end up getting sold at other places? Like the NGX, I pre-ordered Xenoblade from GS only to find that I could have used Amazon, eStarland, etc...

Went into a Gamestop today... came to regret it.

I go in, there's one guy working, and the place is packed. (Also, besides myself and the guy working the counter, there were some very odd people in here... Gamestop attracts some odd characters.) I get a copy of Catherine, sit in line for 15 minutes, then get to the counter only to learn that they only have the box, no copies of the game. I then return and look around, grab a copy of Lollipop Chainsaw and a copy of Vanquish. Go back through another 5 minutes in line, get up there, and find out the copy of Vanquish was marked with the wrong price, so it turned out I didn't have enough money.

I ended up walking out with a copy of Lollipop Chainsaw about 30 minutes after I had come in. It wouldn't had bothered me, except that about ten minutes before I had been at GameOver Games, San Marcos. I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes, no problems. The girl working there was the oddest person there, and that was only because of her partly shaved head.

I worked at GameStop one Christmas season for some extra cash, and if the game was marked wrong, we were supposed to honor that price; and then whoever was supposed to update prices gets their ass chewed.

At least in michigan, it's a legal requirement for retailers to honor their price stickers.

I'm pretty sure it's the same way in NY. Even if it's not a GS near me honored a mismarked price a few years ago.

THE GOOD - New Sold As Used

A while back I bought a New Wii game retagged as used; Kirby Epic Yarn. I do not know why Gamestop does this. Thanks to some recent posts in the Finds Thread, I just bought a SEALED Wii Kore Gang for $6.99 at Gamestop. Sealed, sticker free, with a crisp manual and pristine disc inside!
hashiriya1 wrote:Took advantage of GameStop's Buy 2, Get 1 Free for PSP and Wii games. They couldn't find The Kore Gang disc, so they gave me a new, sealed copy for the price of used ($6.99).
dsheinem wrote:All were sold "used" but the stick and "The Kore Gang" were new/sealed. The Kore Gang started development around 2002 for the original Xbox but took about 10 years to finish before being released (for the Wii) last year. I'm highly curious about it, as it is an original IP and has drawn favorable comparisons to Rare's stuff from the late 90s early 2000s.
To better my chances of getting a new retagged game versus used, I looked up Kore Gang online and found a store that did not show low stock on the used copies. The same store did not show any new which confirmed that all the new copies got retagged to used. There were a few stores that showed new copies on hand which have not been retagged yet.

To add to the Gamestop retag confirmation the ORIGINAL (NOT STICKER) BAR CODE WAS SCANNED AT $6.99, not at the new $14.99 price. My purchase of Kirby Epic Yarn earlier was a bigger savings. Instead of $29.99, I bought it retagged at $9.99.

Weird that the Gamestop site now shows the new Kirby as online purchase only:

:?: WHY DOES GAMESTOP DO THIS? There might be other games that got retagged.

I could have argued, but I just wanted to get out. Thinking about it, I probably helped myself save some money, as I have found the game online for much less. I love shopping in person, but online just works better.

Anybody have any experience with Game Informer? Is it actually worth getting, or is it just crap? I use a couple of online sources for game news, but something solid like that would be nice, along with the reviews.
