Turbo Grafx16
Re: Turbo Grafx16
Was this system even released in the UK? I've never, ever, ever seen one in the flesh over here, and I don't remember anything about it back in the day either.

There was no official PAL version of the Turbo Grafx-16/PC Engine. Although I have read that some major retailers in France carried Import PC Engines of the console.GagaMan wrote:Was this system even released in the UK? Ah, that'd explain it. For a moment I thought it just completely passed me without me noticing it.

I have a TG-16 American system, and a Japanese Duo system since there is no region lockout, i can play all the greatest games for any country on cd, and I have both systems to run thier respective hucards on. All the shooting games, and the rpg's. Thats my favorite part of that system.

I'm not totally enamored with the TG-16 so much as I am with the CD add-on. Sure, there's some great Hu-Card games, but man is there an awesome library of CD-based games! And since there's no region lockout, it's easy to get all the great stuff for it. Now if I had to just play North American games, the TG-16 would probably win the battle. But since I got the PC Engine CD, I have been mainly playing Japanese RPGs on it. I do have Cosmic Fantasy 2, the Working Designs translated version, so I plan on playing that at some point. But there really is a ton of good Japanese stuff.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

Greatest Games?
Hey, TurboGrafx/PC Engine fans, I'm trying to get together the definitive list of greatest TG-16/CD games ever. Would appreciate any comments you have. I recently started a new thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8872. Thanks!

Have you read Racketboy's existing articles? They are largely my writing so if you feel the need to bitch out any of the choices I'm the one to bitch to. There are certainly worthy games that didn't get included, but that's the case with every such attempt.

Yeah, I read the Racketboy article, and it was quite good. Nice work! Drawing the line where to stop in terms of including worthy games is really tough. In coming up with my own greatest games list, the Racketboy article along with http://www.pcengine.co.uk have been my best two resources, on top of a whole lot of retrogaming in my spare time, of course. I'm erring on the side of being overly inclusive at my website. I'm already up to about 50 TG-16 games and 35 TG-CD ones. At what point does a list become too large to be helpful? Dealing with the NES and its mammoth games library is even worse.

Re: Turbo Grafx16
I just got, as in four minutes ago, a TG16 with turbotap and a spare arcade stick, no games however. Now I am going to be on the hunt for a few. So Marurun, expect a message/email from me asking your advice...
