Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
There's a surprising number of arcade games ported to Commodore 64.
Most of these conversions are pretty bad, but all are interesting pieces of gaming history and worth checking out at least once on an emulator.
Ghosts n' Goblins is actually a bit easier on the C64. I was able to beat it!

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Just picked up Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed for the 360, and it is AWESOME!! A lot more fast and intense than any kart racer I've ever played. Much of the arcade feel points back to other racing classics Sega has made in the past. So many things to do, so much stuff to unlock. It makes references to a lot of Saturn and Dreamcast classics. I was sold at the Burning Rangers track. And Wreck-It Ralph is a playable character.
And the whole car/boat/plane transformation thing people were afraid about was actually really well done. Not only are all the controls good, but it also allows the track to change up every lap or so. For example, in the Panzer Dragoon track, the first lap is all on land, second lap is on land and water, and the third lap is in the air. A lot of the tracks do this type of thing.
I highly recommend this game to all the Sega fans who browse this forum. I honestly like this better than I like Mario Kart. And that says a lot coming from me.
CGR made an excellent review of it:

Dig Dug
Frogger
Gyruss - excellent, though obviously not stereo sound when the arcade was the first stereo one
Moon Patrol
Omega Race - paddle supported
Satan's Hollow
Spy Hunter

Thanks for the suggestions... I think the only arcade port I have so far is Congo Bongo... which isn't very good, but I don't think the original is either.Hobie-wan wrote:Some good ones:BoneSnapDeez wrote:There's a surprising number of arcade games ported to Commodore 64.

I'd like to get the C64 port of Contra someday... Again, not very good but an interesting piece of gaming history.
And holy smokes, there's also a Tandy Color version of Contra?!

You don't have to play it to hear, but some of the best chiptune music ever was on the C64 port of Commando.BoneSnapDeez wrote:There's a surprising number of arcade games ported to Commodore 64.

Felt like playing a ps3 game, popped it in only to see an UPDATE REQUIRED thing. Nearly 10 minutes later waiting for the update to finish installing, I'm not sure I feel like playing it anymore!

That happens to me with just about every game these days.
I always try to patch games when I'm busy doing something else.

Even portable systems do it now. It's inescapable!
