My friend had never played Zelda before, so I got him to try out A Link to the Past.
He's played quite a ways through it now, got like halfway through the dark world, and... he doesn't care for it at all. Just seems like a series of pointless scavenger hunts to him.

FWIW, the guy has played through Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne... twice.
and he really liked Kirby's Adventure... though he dislikes playing Super Star because he says the screen area is too zoomed in
