No more income = no more game collecting. Sure, I'll still pick at thrift stores and flea markets but that's it.
Thankfully I have a pretty big backlog, so my goal for the next few years is to work through that.

Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
In 2013, I would like to:
* Round out my N64 collection;
* Round out my GameCube collection;
* Round out my Xbox collection;
* Acquire inexpensive, complete Wii games before GameStop gets rid of them;
* Photograph my collection.
If I acquire eight more N64 games, I will be completely satisfied with my collection. (Unfortunately, some of the titles that I am seeking - such as Bomberman 64: The Second Attack, Clayfighter 63 1/3: Sculptor's Cut, Harvest Moon 64, and Starcraft 64 - may be hard to track down at a reasonable price.)
Likewise, I am seeking only 24 GameCube games and 28 Xbox games, and it would be nice to round out my collections for each system. (It is unlikely that I will be able to track them all down in the wild next year, but it would be nice to be closer to my goal.)
I also think that GameStop will be clearing out its Wii games in 2013; so, I hope to acquire as many games for my collection as possible. Once GameStop clears them, I think it will be a lot harder to find complete, inexpensive games at a good price in the wild.
Finally, I would really like to start a collection thread, but I have not yet found the time to photgraph my collection. Accordingly, I would like to set aside some time next year and photgraph my collection. (By my estimates, I have somewhere between 1500 and 2000 games.)

Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
prfsnl_gmr, you can use a site like RFGen to log your collection - I add new games as soon as they come in.
Here's something I thought of a few months ago, but had forgotten about until today: in 2013 I'd like to finish (or at least play extensively) at least one game for every console I own. I have lots of poor consoles that are collecting dust and simply don't get enough love. I have a NGPC that I've probably only played for 2 hours total. I have a Wonderswan that's never been played (no games for it yet). I'd like to finish at least one C64 game and one classic PC game as well.

I will definitely be doing this as one of my goals. In fact, I've already started thanks to the B2G1 on Wii games. I'd do the same for DS games; however, Gamestop trashes all of the cases/manuals for them (such a shame.)prfsnl_gmr wrote:In 2013, I would like to:

The Wii U is backwards compatible, no? So while they may gradually cut back the shelf space, I'm not sure they'll be getting rid of the games quit so quickly. I could be wrong, though, but I think the Wii games should be safe for at least another year.prfsnl_gmr wrote:In 2013, I would like to:

Most of them do, but the one closest to me doesn't. Hell, they still have loads of boxed PS2 games. I need to go there to check out what they've got soon.FerretGamer wrote:.... I'd do the same for DS games; however, Gamestop trashes all of the cases/manuals for them (such a shame.)

Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
Gonna divide mine up into Gaming and Collecting like we did last year:
Gaming
- Try to get 3 or less unfinished games per system on my backloggery by my birthday (December 24th).
- Beat at least 2 Final Fantasy games in my collection.
- Beat 50% or more Together Retro games out of the months I participate in.
- Beat a game on every console I own.
- Beat at least half of the games left on my Games Not Beaten 2012 list at the end of December 2012
Collecting
- Limit myself to 3 new games per month maximum - with exceptions: If I buy a new system that comes bundled with games, they don't count to that months total, and games bought for Together Retro don't count either. The idea here is to make myself buy the games I really want that may cost a little more, by buying less random crap!
- Buy at least 1 game for each system I didn't buy a game for this year (Gamecube, Saturn, 3DO, NGPC, Turbografx, Pokémon Mini, Virtual Boy)
- Focus more on handheld games over console purchases (50% or more handheld for new purchases in 2013)
- Buy a Wii U

Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
1. Obtain an Atari Lynx
2. Obtain a WORKING 3DO
3. I want to get some issues of Game Player's Magazine and Electronic Gaming Monthly from the 80s & 90s.
4. Work on my Saturn Collection (which seems harder and harder to do nowadays, the prices are getting insane)
5. Work on my pathetic (4 games right now) Nintendo DS collection. I traded many DS games away when Skyrim came out. Something I don't normally do, but it was an Elder Scrolls game and I was broke!
Games at the Top of My Wishlist:
-Breath of Fire (SNES)
-Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
-Castlevania: Bloodlines (Genesis)
-Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES)
-Contra: Hard Corps (Genesis)
-Chrono Cross (PS1)
-House of the Dead 2 (Dreamcast) - I do own it, but my copy ALWAYS glitches in level 2. You can't see the enemies but they still attack you. Yet the disc looks perfect, not a single scratch.
-Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes (Dreamcast)
-Panzer Dragoon: Zwei (Saturn)
-Twisted Metal 1 & 2 (PS1)

Amazingly, I have played through all but one of those games (Breath of Fire). They are all very, very good, and if you are planning on playing through all of them, then you have a lot of good times ahead of you.BurningDoom wrote: Games at the Top of My Wishlist:
