Just got an ipad for christmas, bring on the suggestions
well as the title suggests i got a 32 gig ipad for christmas and a $50 itunes card. So far i have bought Dodonpachi Resurrection HD, Espgaluda 2 HD, and a 6 month subscription to retro gamer magazine. I must say the cave games play so well on the ipad im very impressed, and i love the fact i can get retro gamer magazine and not have to pay $110 for a years subscription of importing the actual magazine. So anyone suggest any must have games for the ipad, perhaps some RPGs?

I would suggest something, but i have a Nexus 7 tablet and all the games seems very boring to me. I thinks its due to the lack of actual buttons and dpad/joystick.
PSN- jacktsang05
WiiU- jacktsang05

If you like turn-based strategy, I'd recommend Highborn, but with this caveat: I was on the design team. :]
Mirror's Edge on the iPad was surprisingly good, as was Dead Space.
What kind of games do you like to play?

The most meaty game I have enjoyed so far is Bastion.

Free Games (full versions, not lite/crippled):
Dungeon Hunter (not sure if it's III or 3D, whichever one is free right now. They shuffle it a bit) - it's sorta like Diablo, but you fight in an arena instead of exploring dungeons.
Asphalt 7 - probably the best looking free racing game for the iOS (Need for Speed Shift looks better, but it's not free)
Temple Run - it's highly addicting.
Angry Birds - there's lots of versions, the older ones are free.
Sorta Free Games:
Captain America: The First Avenger - it's kind of like a sidescrolling Temple Run. The full version is free for a limited time (I downloaded it 2 weeks ago).
Thor: God of Thunder - a crude third person beat 'em up based on the comic book movie. The full version is free for a limited time (I downloaded it 2 weeks ago).
The Avengers Initiative - probably one of the most graphically impressive games on the iPad. It almost looks like a current gen console game. The gameplay is a bit crude, though. It's just a 1 vs 1 fighting game that uses touch and swipe mechanics. The full version is free for a limited time (I downloaded it just last week).
I suggest getting one of those "Free App a Day" apps and checking it once a day. Some commercial games are usually offered free from time to time as a promo (it's how I got a hold of the Marvel games, which originally cost $1.99 to $5).
Commercial Games:
I dunno, haven't bought a single paid app since I first got an iPad. But I search from time to time, Capcom and Sega has a lot of ports of their games on the iPad (I've seen a port of the 4-player X-Men arcade game, Super Monkey Ball, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter x Tekken). There's also lots of sports games. I've seen NBA2k13, WWE stuff, and even UFC games on there.
Square also has a lot of stuff, from classic ones like FFIV to new 3D stuff. It's fun just searching the app store using names of popular devs.

Plants Vs Zombies is one of my favorites.
Solitaire Deluxe is another good one.

If you're a comic reader:
ComicZeal. It's $5, I think. Great comic reader, it does collections, you can mix your collections, add whatever you like, and the best part - you can sync your comics with ComicZeal Sync (free) on your computer. No jailbreaking needed, it will sync the comics to your iPad.
GoodReader: $3 i think. Great for PDFs. I use it to read tabletop RPG books. It can do the same wireless sync (sorta) as ComicZeal.
Games:
The Simpsons: Tapped out (free). Its kinda like Farmville, one of those little 'collect money' games, where you build a house, and come back in x amount of time to collect it's money/resources. I usually avoid games like this but it's Simpsons, so it's pretty cool.
Contract Killer 2: Zombies - FPS game, and it's free.
Infinity Blade 1 and 2 (not free) but a great couple of games.

If you're looking for RPGs, Baldur's Gate has an enhanced port in iPad but judging from the IGN review, it really doesnt work that well with touch screen controls. It's still the most prominent proper RPG on the system afaik
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
