With the Wii now 99% done, what were your favorite games?

Post by BoringSupreez »

What games were your favorites? Which year did you feel the Wii shone the brightest? Will you miss the Wii, or are you glad to see it go? This thread is for retrospective discussion of the Wii, which, with Christmas 2012 now in the past, is all but finished.

I've only had my Wii about a year, and I still have yet to play most of the stuff i've wanted to.

So far, I've really enjoyed Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, and Brawl. There's a ton of stuff on my Wii wishlist though that I haven't played yet.

My favorites have been Mario Galaxy (which is one of my favorites of all time), Boom Blox, Brawl and Twilight Princess. I just got The Last Story for Christmas, which I'm really enjoying so far. It might be a favorite in time.

I've had my Wii for a little less than two years. I bought one on impulse when I decided I didn't feel like watching the Super Bowl that day. For all of its problems, I really enjoy the system. There are still tons of games that I want to get.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom made my head explode and is possibly my favorite Capcom fighter. Other than that and the No More Heroes games, the Wii library doesn't do much for me.

I have to give mention to Xenoblade which I found to be pretty cool, but it just didn't grab me for some reason, and I was hoping it would feel more like Xenogears than it did.

the only thing I really play on Wii is HOTD2. So yeah. My favorite Wii game is a Dreamcast game.

Same here. Either TvC or Rival Schools/Project Justice.

So my favorites go to Illvelo, TvC, A Boy and His Blob.. And.. That might be it. Are we talking exclusive or just games in general? Because there is also Radirgy Noa, which is on the 360. And the other Milestone games which are on Dreamcast, PS2, GCN, etc.
My B/S/T thread! :)

I think the Wii is very under-appreciated. I've spent more time on it and have more games for it, than I do for my 360. Here are a few of my favourites -
Muramasa the Demon Blade.
Metroid Trilogy + Other M - Yes, I know other M ruined Samus as a character, but I quite enjoyed the gameplay itself.
Okami - This game was made for the Wii, imo. Using the Wiimote as a brush was great, even if you have played the game elsewhere.
Super Mario Galaxy.
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn.
Trauma Canter series.
Ivy the Kiwi.
Sin & Punishment Succesor of the Skies.
The Sky Crawlers Innocent Aces - This isn't particularly a stand out game, I just really enjoyed it.
Rune Factory Frontier - This game consumed my life, more so than Skyrim or any other.

Somethings that I didn't like - The controls didn't always work, some games would have been better without. Lack of HD. Shop uses points instead of money. Friend Codes.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: While the tutorial was obscenely long (though I hear SS's is even worse), everything else about the game puts OOT to shame. It's not quite MM/LTTP quality, but it's easily my third favorite in the series.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Say what you will about it not being as good as Melee, I personally loved it. Yes, it didn't add nearly as much as Melee did, but that's like saying five dollars is less than four dollars because four dollars is so much more than one dollar than five is compared to four.

Metroid Prime Trilogy (and by extension MP3): One of the few FPSes that dared to be different. I was genuinely surprised that Retro was able to convert the feel of Super Metroid to a 3D atmosphere well, but even more surprised that they could set it in the first person and not succumb to making it a "shoot everything mindlessly" rampage. Yes, there's minor flaws (such as the Chozo Ghosts in the first game), but for the most part all three are masterpieces.

Cave Story: Probably the least desirable of the paid versions besides the DSiWare one, but it *was* the first release outside of the freeware one. It introduced tons of new features that would later be implemented in more definitive versions of the best game of all time.

SS's tutorial is long too, but the stuff it has you doing during that opening segment is a lot more interesting than TP's "spend-three-days-doing-pointless-odd-jobs-around-the-villaige" thing.

Wii is my favorite 7th gen home console. Some of my favorites:

Arc Rise Fantasia - Solid RPG, similar to the Tales games.

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon - Incredible atmosphere.

The Last Story - Beautiful graphics, music, and art style.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Amazing Metroidvandia game with RPG elements. The "painted" graphical art style is amazing.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Just a straight up fun Mario game.

Opoona - Fun, quirky JRPG.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - Best 7th gen RPG that isn't on a handheld, and my favorite Tales game.

Xenoblade Chronicles - Epic.
