That's the one about fairy tales with the smoking hot girls on the cover, right?Gamerforlife wrote:I wasn't aware that Telltale Games is working on a Fables game. That's very interesting

It would be funny if they got one of Wolverine voice actors from any of the X-Men cartoons to voice Bigby. He's always felt like a Wolverine rip off to me.

They featured a lot of different covers over time. What you're thinking of may be the spinoff Fairest, which I think focuses exclusively on females from the Fables universe.
I haven't actually had a chance to read up on Fairest now that I think about it

Re: The Comic Book Thread
but yeah, Fables is a Vertigo series focusing on Fairy Tale characters. It's pretty good, or at least it used to be. I don't get quite as excited about it these days as I used to, but I am interested in seeing what Telltale games does with it. The comic has been around for a long time. Are they adapting one of the story arcs, or just coming up with original stories?
Whatever it is, I think it will probably be awesome. Visually, it could be an amazing series of games, especially if they focus more on the fairy tale land stuff than the human world stuff
Now that I think about it, they'll probably come up with something original like they did with The Walking Dead games, but set in the Fables universe

Re: The Comic Book Thread
I don't follow a lot of comics like I used to as a teenager, (but I have more money for them monthly, how's that for irony) but I follow a few like Invincible, Guarding the Globe, the new TMNT ongoing series, etc.
I followed Ultimate Spider-man for a couple of issues, but got out of it a long time ago and I remember reading about the new 'bla-tino' Spidey, Miles Morales. I picked up the first issue and it was OK, but never continued. It was brought back to my attention recently so I've been reading through them and I'm in issue 10 so far.
Miles being only 13 made me shudder to think about, but it's surprised me pretty well. Also I love that Miles isn't some sort of weird ret-con, but rather he lives and breathes in Ultimate Peter's universe. He just happens to be *another* guy that gets Spider powers so it's rather intriguing and I have to say that so far, I'm really digging Miles as the new Ultimate Spidey. He's clearly a kid, but he's a little witty just like the original (or at least original original, not sure of Ult Peter was as quick witted as OG Peter as I didn't read TOO far into it) and the comics are pretty enjoyable to read.
Also, I'm going through Irredeemable again. I put the issues on my iPad for my wife (i have them all in physical form) to catch up on and I caught myself going through them again. That was a great story!

Are the Fables comics any good? I've wanted to pick them up, but I fear for how people may see me if they look at the art, as is the problem I have with buying Hack/Slash and a lot of Shmups.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
Some of the recent issues haven't knocked my socks off, but the series was great for most of its run. If you read all the trades all the way up to War and Pieces (the first 75 issues), that was probably the best run of the series. From that point on, it's still good up to issue 100, (the "Rose Red" trade). Although issues 83-85 (part of the Great Fables Crossover trade) are kind of crappy because they do this crossover with the Jack of Fables spin-off which isn't enjoyable or even understandable unless you've been reading that series. The crossover also derails Fables completely, taking it away from its main plot line of the time to deal with a villain from the Jack of Fables series. After Fables issue 100, your mileage may vary as far as whether or not you'll like it. For me, it's starting getting a little dull after issue 106, but I still get every new issue out of loyalty towards the series.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Are the Fables comics any good? If you end up being a fan of Fables, you might want to get caught up on the show Once Upon a Time, which has a very similar concept to Fables. There have been some notable writers on that show, including Jane Espenson and some of the minds behind Lost. One odd thing that Once Upon a Time does that is a bit different from Fables, is that it actually incorporates certain elements from Disney movies into its mythology.

So, who has heard what's happening to Spider-Man? HUGE changes to the character:
What do you think of it? Are you interested in it? Are you buying it? Do you think it was a good move, or a stupid move by Marvel?

I think one of the big two should take something like this situation and make it PERMANENT. This isn't 90's Superman, I mean, come on.

Yes, it is sorta stupid. But, I've already become accustomed to things such as Flash Thompson being the new Venom, and what-not. So who knows. Plus, I still like Doc Ock.

My friend told me all about that spider-man thing. I think that one might end up on a list of 'worst attempts at shaking up the status quo' list or something one day.
