What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Well, bear in mind I only recently saw the entire film. I've seen bits and pieces over the years, like the maggot scene, and I knew about the head vampire, the dinner 'vamp test' scene, etc. So maybe if I'd seen it as a kid it'd hold a dearer spot in my heart. So I'm kinda sorta coming into this movie like I was with the Elm Street films.

Anyway:

Corey Feldman's character probably not being much older than Mouth from GOONIES and talking with this deep Snake-from-Metal-Gear voice was funny and made him seem even more dorky, even though the Frog brothers were actually right about the existence of Vampires. Corey Haim is... Corey Haim.

The scene with the maggots/worms didn't make sense to me and it never has. Is that one of the Vampire powers that Vampire Jack Bauer had? To make you see something gross? I just thought it was kinda dumb. I've never read of someone being turned by just drinking blood. Was it Vampire blood? Was it the head Vamp's blood? I assume that's what they were implying, but a Vampire is created just like a werewolf, by a bite. Hell, even Twilight got that part right.

SPEAKING of twilight, apparently in the Lost Boys universe, Vampire blood sparkles? I guess that's here the twilight girl got her idea of sparkling vamps.

Also, the toe hanging scene. I see what they were trying to do, but... it looked so cheesy.

one last thing: With Sutherland's character - I guess having a beard means you're a vampire? When he was killed (not by a stake, btw) and the head vamp came to check on him, his beard and greasy hair was gone. ?

The worms and maggot stuff was meant as manipulation. Drinking a vampire's blood was the final step of becoming a vampire according to Bram Stoker. The bite killed, the blood revived. But yeah, no biting unless he and Star got "that freaky" that night. Plus they mention you don't go "full vamp" until your first kill.

I'm lost when you say "Vampire blood sparkles" and "toe hanging". I'm guessing you are referring to the part where the Boys attack the cave during daytime.

I think THE LOST BOYS accomplished everything it tried to do. Even the weed jokes come off as a bit clever. And I'll always love "You think this'll pass as cologne?".

And truth be told, I still think the character's "look cool". They nailed the "cool teens of the 90's" look close to perfection. Maybe I'm too fond of the movie.

BLAZING SADDLES/DJANGO trailer is GREAT!

Yeah the sparkling blood/toe hanging is when they go into the cave and find them all asleep. Then one of the vamp hunter guys kills Bill S. Preston Esq. You see them hanging on the ceiling, upside down, and then they show how they are hanging. It's by their toes which are longer, with long claws/nails.

When they kill Bill, his blood gets all over them. Then when they leave (during the day) you see their jackets are still covered in the vamp blood and it's basically glitter, lol.

I just assumed Twilight vampires's organs just crystallized, and that their "sparkly skin" was really just the crystallization of their skin cells, which would explain why they're so fuckin hard to kill... though now that I think of it, they need to get Wolverine to kill those sparklefucks, unless vampire skin's harder than adamantium.

Also, I remember hearing that diamonds are destroyed at temperatures of about 750F (?) and that crematorium fires are up to 2000F. Fuck the Volturi, if you're a suicidal vamp just go to your neighborhood mortician!

Oh, yeah. I forgot that back on Sunday, I watched Friday the 13th Parts 6 and 7 back to back on IFC. Why the fuck does IFC do commercial breaks? I can understand with TV shows but with movies?

Being a form of carbon, diamond oxidizes in air if heated over 700 °C.[37] In absence of oxygen, e.g. in a flow of high-purity argon gas, diamond can be heated up to about 1700 °C.[38][39] Its surface blackens, but can be recovered by re-polishing. At high pressure (~20 GPa) diamond can be heated up to 2500 °C,[40] and a report published in 2009 suggests that diamond can withstand temperatures of 3000 °C and above.[41]
