Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
Speaking of bonified emulation machine, my girl got me a wii for Christmas. So, my goal for 2013 is to softmod this bad boy, buy a component cable, buy a few arcade sticks, and hit the emulation fast and furious!

A few goals:
Buy less, play more.
I buy far too many games that I never end up touching. My goal for 2013 is to buy only games that I will play immediately. Idividual games might in some cases end up costing more, as I may buy them when they are not on sale, but its better then letting my money sit on a shelf untouched.
Clear 100 games from my steam backlog.
Of about 640 beatable games on steam I have beaten only 60. If I beat 100 more I will have cleared 25% of my current steam backlog.
Play more old games.
This may seem weird since this is a retro focused forum, but I haven't been playing too many retro games lately. Last I beat was Serious Sam: The First Encounter way back in July. Its just so easy to get caught up with the new and great that I forget about all these older gems.

- Do video game reviews on Youtube again. And on a frequent basis.
- Actually play some modern games for once, using my newly acquired Xbox 360.
- Collect some neat DS/3DS games.
- All the Castlevania.
- All the Darius.

Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
I have a babby coming in March and I'm leaving my job in June to be a stay-at-home dad.
No more income = no more game collecting. Sure, I'll still pick at thrift stores and flea markets but that's it.
Thankfully I have a pretty big backlog, so my goal for the next few years is to work through that.

This year I am buying a candy cabinet, 100% sure! I have missed too many opportunities over the last 6 months due to moving and timing of finances.

Re: Aspirational Gaming Goals for 2013
I'm getting married in June, and I have collected dozens of games over the years that I've barely touched, if I've played them at all. 2013 will be the year I actually enjoy my library.
"No new games" seems to be a fairly common goal so far!

If you're clever about it, you can kinda make the hobby self funding by buying bulk lots for cheap and constantly flipping the stuff you don't need. Use the money from flips to buy more games.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I have a babby coming in March and I'm leaving my job in June to be a stay-at-home dad.

It can be time consuming though. And the dry periods suck.AppleQueso wrote:If you're clever about it, you can kinda make the hobby self funding by buying bulk lots for cheap and constantly flipping the stuff you don't need.
