Is there a connection with these games?

Post by disorderlyvision »

1. does legend of dragoon have anything to do with panzer dragoon (saga)? I beat legend of dragoon years ago, so i dont remember all the details of the story, and i am just now starting panzer dragoon saga, so i dont know the story at all. just wondering if they are related in anyway because of the name. obviously you don't have air battles while riding a dragon in the legend of dragoon, so i didn't think they were related. but some sereies are known by one word in the title. i.e. mana series, tales series. thought maybe there was an off chance they were related since they both have dragoon in the title.

2. how is chrono trigger related to the final fantasy series other than being made by square? i was curious as to why it was included on one of the final fantasy ps1 compilations (anthology, origins, chronicles) i believe it was on chronicles. does anyone know why square included it instead of another FF, or did they run out of FF titles and decide to throw in an extra. i'm not complaining chrono trigger is bad ass, i own the original. (heard the port was crap though, havent played it). but to keep it strictly final fantasy why didnt they release the handheld games or something (ff adventure, ff legendsI-III).

1. I doubt it personally. Though on a funny note, the Mana series is related to the Final Fantasy series, as was the game Bahamut Lagoon.

2. I think Chrono Trigger is so often ported because it's one of Square's big money makers. Yes, there are other Final Fantasies they could have considered bringing over, but Chrono Trigger is a big thing. It's practically a flagship property. They'd be hard pressed to come up with something more iconic to stick with an FF title.

1) Not a single connection.

2) FF and CT don't really have anything to do with eachother, either, aside from sharing some staff.

I'm pretty sure the reason that CT was part of FF Chronicles is that originally in Japan, FF Anthology was FF4-6. In the US, we only got 5-6, so when they released 4 in the US, they added in CT.

1) no connection other than Dragoon in the title

2) no connection either. chrono trigger is based around time travel and it's universe is pretty far removed from FF's.

Chrono Trigger does have a connection with Chrono Cross, however.

Yeah, but people will fight over that connection.

I've been wondering for the longest time how chrono trigger wound up in a final fantasy compilation. In all honestly....I don't care....ff4 and chrono trigger bundled together is the greatest idea since sliced bread
