GBA SP Power Problems

Post by PeNguinn97 »

Hello everyone, :D

I recently upgraded from the frontlit GBA SP(AGS-001?) to the backlit one(AGS-101?). I am definitely glad I did, it makes a world of difference!

My problem is that the handheld randomly seems to turn off. It seems to do this whenever it feels like it. Sometimes it will work flawlessly, but other times it will randomly shut off around 2 minutes after I turn it on. Sometimes when I turn it on, it won't, but when I try a second time it will. I already Googled it, and many people said it was a bad battery. I thought that this made sense, but something else made me not so sure. I opened up the battery slot of the GBA to look at the battery and connectors for any damage or dirt. I took out, the battery and it looked clean. I put the battery in very carefully, and made sure it was in all the way.

For some reason this made the handheld randomly shut off less. It still may require a second try to turn it on, but it shuts off less frequently. :?

What so you guys think? Is it a bad battery? Any advice on a good replacement battery?
Is it the connecters? What should I clean them with? Something else?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, pop the battery out and clean the connectors first. Use the same sorts of things that you clean carts with. There are plenty of posts here about that, just ignore the ones that say to use windex, stove cleaner, or anything else that has solids, colors, or perfumes in it.
