I'm having problems with my 32x. The color rolls/flickers when playing 32x, genesis or sega cd games with it installed. Removing the 32x the color/picture are fine for genesis/sega cd.
I replaced the genesis 2 to 32x link cable with one from racketboy 2-3 weeks ago and the problem did not go away. I was concerned that the sync was maybe messed up.
Today I recapped the entire 32x and the problems did not go away (have spare sets of caps if anyone needs them, pm me and we can work out a price!). Some games it flickers faster, some it flickers slower..
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Re: 32x rolling color (sync?) issues
Wow that is trippy, did you slip something in my drink? I really don't have any answers for ya, I hear a lot of people talking about the ribbon cables but I don't think it was the same problem.
Re: 32x rolling color (sync?) issues
I've fiddled with the white cables but no luck. oddly the more I twist the main board up at an angle the slower it seems to roll. I've tried re-soldering the connections between the main board and the card board but no luck.
I'm about to call it a day and just get a spare off ebay next week. My only hesitation is that it could possibly be the sync off my genesis since the composite out doesn't use that without the 32x connected. A spare genesis 2 shouldn't be hard to come by though if that is the case.

Re: 32x rolling color (sync?) issues
Wanted to follow up on this. I picked up another 32x and experienced the same problem. I took the 32x up to a tv instead of the receiver to projector hookup and don't see the problem there. Something with the 32x signal and the projector/receiver is messing it up. I have up-scaling turned off and pass-through on both but still see the problem.
My projector composite input doesn't seem to work so I don't know if it's the receiver or projector at this point.
Projector is Optima and receiver is Yamaha.

Now you mention that, I bet it doesn't like the 240P signal.

Re: 32x rolling color (sync?) issues
Interesting.. adding 240p to my google searches pulled up a ton of issues. I'll have to check if the Sonic 2 special stage (480i) works okay via 32x.
If it fails, my receiver won't take S-video so I guess I could convert all the systems to SCART, get an external scaler then go composite to the receiver.

Re: 32x rolling color (sync?) issues
So is it the receiver or projector that does not like the signal? Does the projector have any inputs to use? Maybe only use the receiver for sound.
Re: 32x rolling color (sync?) issues
Can't be sure.
My projector (Optima HD20) was refurbished and I never tried the composite input before now. The composite doesn't seem to take input from anything I give it. So I can't be sure if skipping the upscaler on the Yamaha receiver would fix it.
