I watched the DVR of RAW from this past week and wow were the boos loud and just awesome when Cena came out for his award - and when he broke up Dolph cashing in later. I was curious how that came across. Just awesome.

What I like about the Dolph and AJ pairing, is that I had considered that happening when they were doing the Cena/AJ storyline. Also, when I heard about her turning on Cena at the pay per view, I immediately thought what I great way to stick it to Vickie, and that's exactly how they played it on Raw the following night. It's like everything in this storyline is playing out exactly how I want it to, and I thought AJ's explanation for her actions on Smackdown made perfect sense. In fact, she even implies that something really was going on between her and Cena when she was GM, which would mean Cena was lying. There's some nice storytelling they are doing here.

Dolph is awesome. He's long overdue for a push, but on the bright side it has given him time to get better and better. This may sound crazy, but someone on a recent podcast said Ziggler is the guy who should replace Cena some day. I don't see that happening, but it's heavy praise

To me Punk, Ziggler and Daniel Bryan...and AJ on the female side of things are the best things going on Raw right now. I used to be into The Miz too, but boy has he gotten stale

Vicki is what's holding Dolph back. Dolph could be a fantastic heel, if they didn't make it look like he was constantly relying on Vicki. Unfortunately, having him latch right onto another female (A.J.), really isn't gonna help that image any. And yeah, HHH & Steph were a fantastic power couple. But HHH was already a bad-ass before he ever hooked up with Stephanie, Dolph doesn't have that image about him at the moment.

But then that's my complaint for pretty much all of WWE's heels. They all look weak and pathetic. And one of the basics of story-telling is that you need a good villain to make the hero look even more heroic. It's sad that the WWE, who have hired writing professionals, can't understand a writing basic like that.

Unfortunately, having him latch right onto another female (A.J.), really isn't gonna help that image any. And yeah, HHH & Steph were a fantastic power couple. And one of the basics of story-telling is that you need a good villain to make the hero look even more heroic. It's sad that the WWE, who have hired writing professionals, can't understand a writing basic like that.

Good points, but I don't think WWE is ever going to make Dolph a badass, so I think pairing him with AJ works. I don't know if Dolph is a guy who really fits the badass mold anyway. Guys like Brock Lesnar, Mark Henry, Big Show, Randy Orton and Sheamus(heel Sheamus that is)are good in that role. Ziggler is kind of a modern Edge. Edge was an opportunist, and Lita and Vickie were women he used to help him in that role.

I like badass heels, but I don't think Dolph is a guy who needs to fill that role, especially not with his silly "show off" persona. Badasses don't show off, they just kick ass. You can have some sneaky, cowardly heel types in the WWE. My problem is just that they have too many. Sometimes it seems like all they focus on

I think it's just the way he does it. Goes a bit overboard with it. It doesn't bother me, but I think it takes away from whatever badassness he could have. I mean the guy does head stands in the ring. You'd never see Nash or Michaels do that. He's sort of like Rick Rude, or Mr Perfect, which is fine but those aren't guys I necessarily view as "badass" characters. You say badass and guys like Steve Austin or Triple H come to mind. I guess it's just in how I define the word

Thought this was cool, so I wanted to share. A map of the major wrestling promotions in North America during the 60s-80s:



Crazy how many options for wrestling there were back then. I know they weren't all nationally broadcasted, but plenty were syndicated. And between Mid-Atlantic, AWA, and WWF the nationally broadcasted ones rivaled the ones today in amount of programming (WWE, TNA & ROH). But imagine if we still had many of these territories today with cable T.V. and the internet. If you hated WWE or TNA, there could be 10 other options. That would be awesome!

I've seen quite a few "history of" DVDs and old videos of some of these territories. AWA, ECW, Mid-Atlantic South, WWWF, WCCW, and XWF. I've got to say that Mid-Atlantic South (World Championship Wrestling) and WCCW stood out the most for me. Mid-Atlantic had the star-power. And WCCW were ahead of their time in terms of storytelling and video production values. Hell, I feel if the Von Erichs tragedies didn't happen, WCCW could be WWE's main-competitor today, it really was that good. I'm glad WWE made the Triumph & Tragedy of the WCCW DVD, or I never would have discovered WCCW.
