What shmup are you playing now?
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Hellfire is pretty sweet but it seems to be the red-headed stepchild of Toaplan; not many people have heard of it let alone played it, and that's a shame.

I'm playing Sapphire for the PCE-CD. It's quite shitty, I don't see how anyone would enjoy it. Highly overrated and overpriced, even if you get a copy for free!

^^Hooray CD technology! You have to listen to about three hours of unskippable cut scenes of these three giggling and chattering

^^The other 30 minutes? This is about as action-packed as it gets, folks.

^^ Actually, the last encounter is pretty intense as evidenced above.
Arguably the worst shooter I've played in some time. Avoid the hype.

Honestly, watch...rather listen, to 30 seconds of this:
If that doesn't get every ounce of you in a lather, then you deserve Dave's suggested snooze fest.

You're right, I take it back, it doesn't look nearly as bad as crimson clover. I didn't mean to knock Sapphire, I know its a game you must really enjoy since it ended up in your list of 3 shmups you wanted the community to enjoydsheinem wrote:Please don't use this thread to promote your selfish agenda.dunpeal2064 wrote:Yikes, that almost looks as bad as crimson clover!

For what its worth, I actually liked what I've played of CC, though it was only the demo. But, I am a cheap ass mofo. I feel perfectly content stealing Sapphire (which I already had done), but I would feel guilty doing such with CC.
If it does win, I'll try to buy a copy of the game before its month is up. It was quite pleasing double-breaking.
I do have to give it to you for picking 3 shmups, all on different platforms, none of which are available via MAME. Sapphire being the only emulate-able game might have been an oversight though
